Can Cultural Responsive Teaching improve student outcomes?

This doesn't even make sense. Democratic policies have led to laws that affirm equal civil rights, protected the right to vote, and affirmed fair housing policy. It has also supported policies that serve to racially integrate schools and businesses as well.
Keep telling yourself that

One way to do this is to include a variety of voices, reflecting different points of view and experiences in the study of literature and history.

OK, but why isn’t that a good idea regardless of the ‘cultural background’ of students in a classroom?

It's always a good idea.

I think of the nonsense we were taught, such as the Lost Cause Myth about the Civil War. That was basically learning from one view, the Confederate view. And it was all myth taken as fact.

So is what I said.

So you're wrong about the Dems.

Indeed, today, thanks to Republican policies and court decisions, we are seeing racial segregation return to schools. Very sad.

Was that being done in Maryland’s schools? If so, how did I miss being taught that?

If you're defending Confederate statues today, you were probabky taught it.

Indeed, many people do not even realize that the expansion of slavery was the primary cause of the Civil War.

So if you weren't taught it, you might have been sleeping in class. :)

I’m not, but I did attend Maryland’s public schools (1960-1972).

That has nothing to do with teaching about the letter “Y”.

I wasn’t taught the Lost Cause Myth.

So you were sleeping. All my friends went to MD public schools and it's what they were taught. I learned it in a MD private school. We lived in a county that was 98% white.

The point remains, many were taught it. It's a myth. And it's only possible when other voices are ignored.

I lived in Prince George’s County, which was far from 98% white.

How many black voices showed up in your curriculum?
