Bye bye, NASA

How about planning so it is not a financial catastrophe to communities. I have no problem getting rid of it in a correct manner that does not destroy whole communities

Again, other's would love to have NASA workers, and I'd do a phase out somewhat slowly. Also, quite frankly, I don't see a $17,000,000,000 a year subsidy for a small FL town as worth it. I looked at the wikipedia page. There is other stuff there so it wouldn't be a ghost town. The town would recover.

no they don't. they don't even perform their secondary mission (explore the earth from space) well. on basic climate data, for example, they front up admit that the now-discredited "value added data" that has been "managed" to "provide a nice little story" and "hide the decline" is better than their own.

First, that data is not "discredited." The allegations of tampering have been proven false. Next, you have NO idea just how much NASA research has influenced things, especially when it comes to aviation.

Nice try but there is very little. I live 30 miles from there and Nasa and the companies like Rockwell and other space companies is what keeps it going.

Not only that but many from Cocoa,Merritt Island and Melbourne also work there. Nasa is important to Brevard county and just closing it with no plan for the community will be devastating. of course Obama does not care all that matters to him is his political career and legacy.

So? Those towns would simply fall into the realm of the Pahokees of the world. The working community could move to where the private company jobs would be opening.

we should screw over the rest of the country and stunt scientific advancement in order to financially benefit a few towns in Flordia?

hmm, no thanks.

Well if that's all you see it as. :(

as i stated, i'm originally from Huntsville, Alabama. that town lives and dies by NASA and Redstone Arsenal. the civic center is named after Von Braun. but stealing from others to support yourself is still wrong. that's why i don't take social welfare payments i rate, and it's why i don't support maintaining unneeded expensive programs that we can no longer afford for the benefit of making sure engineers in a few select cities don't have to type up a new resume.

No use planning to do it in a way that does not financially ruin these dedicated people

I simply said that the area would recover, and again, frankly I don't much care for what is a $17,000,000,000 subsidy for one part of the country.

Why is it you protect Obama and do not see he cares nothing about the people. He could do this in a way that would be more gradual and could look for ways to provide other means of income since many are well educated and dedicated. Obama shows all that matters is his poltical career and his legacy. The people of this country mean nothing to Obama
