BTW, there was ABSOLUTELY nothing wrong with what Kimmel said

Did anyone really pay attention to what Jimmy Kimmel actually said? He didn't make a joke about the person murdered or the alleged killer. He took a swipe at the MAGA followers falling all over themselves trying to distance themselves philsophically from the alleged killer when they heard he was also politically ultra conservative. He was not making light of the crime.

Watch the whole monologue. The government didn't censor him because of what he said about Kirk. They went after him because of what he said about Epstein.

Kirk is misdirection.

That was the point he was making. That rather than grieving they were totally focused on making the killer not one of them. He wasn't talking about the murderer, he was talking about the MAGA base. You have to take his full comments in context.

Nexstar Media Group, the major broadcast company that serves as a primary affiliate for ABC, confirmed that it would “preempt” Kimmel’s program in the wake of his remarks.

“The company’s owned and partner television stations affiliated with the ABC Television Network will preempt ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’ for the foreseeable future, beginning with tonight’s show,” Nexstar said in a press release.
“Nexstar strongly objects to recent comments made by Mr. Kimmel concerning the killing of Charlie Kirk and will replace the show with other programming in its ABC-affiliated markets,” it continued.

Sinclair Broadcasting said ABC’s suspension of Jimmy Kimmel was insufficient, announcing it will yank “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” from its stations until the host apologizes directly to Charlie Kirk’s family and donates to his political activist group.

The Baltimore-based broadcaster, whose group of some 40 ABC local TV affiliates is the nation’s largest, said Kimmel’s on-air remarks about Kirk’s assassination were “inappropriate and deeply insensitive.”
The company vowed not to return Kimmel’s show “until formal discussions are held with ABC regarding the network’s commitment to professionalism and accountability.”

Other being a blatant lie . . .

That is rich coming from the side that takes every quote they can from Charlie Kirk out of context.

You cannot point to one thing I have said negatively about Kirk much less any quote of his I referenced. I don't belong to a side.

I don’t say you said it. I said that your side does it. It is obvious to everyone on this site which side you are on.

There is no ‘context’ that excuses blatant racism or misogyny or plain old bigotry.

Kirk was a raging racist asshole and political opportunist. A friend of mine posted this, and I haven’t need able to get his OK to credit him for it, so he will remain nameless. But he says it very well and is spot on;

The only reason any of us know who Charlie Kirk is, is because of his often vile attacks on disenfranchised people, and his incitement to violence against those people. He was instrumental in perpetuating the falsehoods about Haitians eating neighborhood pets in Springfield, Ohio. This caused a community of completely legal immigrants to fear for their lives for a time. When Nancy Pelosi's husband was attacked in his home, Charlie Kirk called for an "amazing patriot" to bail the attacker out of jail. These were people that were not trying to make political points, they were all just trying to live their lives, and found their lives in danger so that someone could make a political point, and perhaps book more speaking engagements.

Charlie Kirk is not a politician; he was a professional provocateur. There is good money to be made inciting outrage. Like many professions, one must take the good with the bad. If some jobs were without risks, they wouldn't pay well. When you spend your professional career inciting violence, it is not unexpected that you will ultimately be the victim of violence. This doesn't justify the violence. Just like it was regrettable when Siegfried and Roy suffered a tiger attack, I would not say they deserved it but I will say that it was not unexpected after a career of working with tigers.

Over the coming weeks, everybody will struggle to try and reframe Charlie Kirk’s memory. He is not a martyr for the purpose of promoting our First Amendment rights. He is not a demon who deserved his fate. He was a Las Vegas lounge act gone terribly wrong.

It's only obvious to those who have chosen sides. I have no side. I have my own thoughts and perspectives but I have no " side" other than I abhor what Trump is doing to America.

Is that a confirmed quote?

IMO, it's very poor taste without consideration for Kirk's family.

We keep hearing "OUT OF CONTEXT" but there is no other context that fixes shit like "Yeah, we know. You do not have the brain processing power to otherwise be taken really seriously. You had to go steal a white person's slot to go be taken somewhat seriously."

If I see a Black pilot, I’m going to be like, boy, I hope he’s qualified.
Happening all the time in urban America, prowling Blacks go around for fun to go target white people, that’s a fact. It’s happening more and more.
Reject feminism. Submit to your husband, Taylor. You’re not in charge.
There is no separation of church and state. It’s a fabrication, it’s a fiction, it’s not in the constitution. It’s made up by secular humanists.

It's the same old MAGA meltdown bludgeon they resort to every single time:

HE DIDN'T SAY THAT, AND IF HE DID, HE DIDN'T MEAN IT. AND IF HE DID, YOU DIDN'T UNDERSTAND IT, AND IF YOU DID, IT'S NO BIG DEAL. AND IF IT IS, OTHERS HAVE SAID WORSE

BS. He was trying to shift blame from the left onto the right. He Fn lied. Nobody on the right thought he was a right wiinger and by the time Kimmel made his statement it was well known. Kimmel knew he was lying. He did it purposely.

If your point is supposed to be that Kirk said the above, that's horsecrap and deliberately taken out of context to help perpetuate a lie. You know it, so does the rest of the left. Do you or they care that it's a lie, apparently not.

Those who support trump's serial lying have no standing re anger over lies supposedly made by non-trumpers. So, "Kimmel lied!" is meaningless, coming from you.

As for the allegation Kimmel didn't accept that the murderer was part of "the left": so what? Why on earth would trump get his Extra-Wide-Ass knickers in a twist over that?

As @Bok Tuklo suggested in Post #2, Kimmel's mention of the E-word could well have triggered trump.

Much of the country firmly disagrees.

No. That’s not what he did at all. Kimmel told no lie.

Kimmel absolutely ****ing knowingly lied.

"We hit some new lows over the weekend, with the MAGA gang desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them, and with everything they can, to score political points from it," Kimmel said.

This kid was a leftist indoctrinated nut job who was so ****ed up that he thought he should kill someone who did not approve of his gay love affair. We knew that by Monday. Jimmy Kimmel is a lying dog faced pony soldier to use a Bidenism.

He didn’t say anything about Charlie or his family. That lie got around the world before the truth got it’s pants on.
