Broadcasters told not to air any booing of Donald Trump at US Open men’s final

6-3 nel secondo. Iniziata la riscossa dell’azzurro. RAI.

The comeback has begun for the Italian.

We’ll see. Hope it lasts.

Edited to add: Maybe not.

Trump is attending the men's final at the US Open tomorrow, in New York.

I'm guessing tennis fans in the stadium are probably not his people. Broadcasters have been told not to broadcast booing. But Twitter will 😁

Well at least there will be plenty of private video. If there's boo'ing, it will be posted.

Sinner has made so many unforced errors. Mostly forehand but some backhands as well.

Alcaraz in 4. I finally got a sports prediction right!

ESPN showed celebrities in the crowd throughout the match, except Trump. Not once was he on the big screen except for the pre-match ceremony.

Low percentage on first serves also. Both Guys hit the ball so hard. Both young should be a long rivalry.

"Photo op seeking"? He's the president. He's on TV every ****ing day. He has to try to NOT be photographed.
:rolleyes: Sure....he had no idea that his presence would cause a huge bottle neck at the stadium, and made sure to announce his presence ahead of time so no-one would be inconvenienced. His presence is so disruptive the Tennis Association had to threaten broadcasters to not broadcast so the event would not be totally ruined by the photo-op king.

I watched the match on ABC. At the end of the final point, the crowd broke out in a roar, and the camera flashed to Trump who was sitting there shaking his head with a look of total disgust on his face. I guess the outcome upset him. Wonder why?

Weird. Both players are very popular. There'd be no reason I can think of to be disgusted.

Despite the fact Alcaraz dominated both put on one hell of a show, for the fans that were able to get in 😔

A chorus of boos and sparse clapping greeted Donald Trump when the president arrived at the U.S. Open men’s final at Arthur Ashe Stadium in New York City on Sunday. Later, the boos continued and could be heard on the national telecast during the national anthem. The crowd booed again when the president was shown on an arena screen during a set break.

The U.S. Tennis Association on Saturday requested that broadcasters censor the crowd’s response to Trump and “refrain from showcasing any disruptions or reactions in response to the President’s attendance,” Bounces journalist Ben Rothenberg reported. But boos during the national anthem were audible on ESPN’s telecast of the event on ABC....

That surprised me. I didn't think he'd get booed during the anthem but he did. The roof was closed so the booing was amplified.

Why would he go to an event where he knows this is going to happen?

Ever wonder why Trump has never thrown out the first pitch of a baseball game?

I heard a fascinating exchange tonight on Sirius. The host (sorry, don't know who it was) asked "All these CEO's are so rich that they have "**** you money" so why aren't any of them saying "**** You" to Trump?"
CALLER: "They want MORE, so when multiple people with **** you money get together, that money transforms into "**** THEM money".

"Them" is US, you and me.
