Brain-dead woman must carry fetus to birth because of abortion ban, family says

I’m glad her living child will be traumatized for life seeing his dead mother being an incubator for conservatism forced birth fetishism.

That’s so Christian and pro life, ****ing up others lives because you have no clue how conception works or care because you’re brain washed by an archaic school of thought.

Oof.

I hadn’t even thought of the aspect. That’s another heavy load, that no one gets a choice or a voice in.

This is just…some Handmaid’s Tale level bullshit.

Correct. I don't know. Which is why I only stated a possibility.

The possibility we must abide by otherwise it defeats the entire point of women having a choice. Per your long verbose arguments.

Is this you?

Her wishes may have been that the child survive.
This seems tough for some libs here as well as MAGAs to grasp: choice means choice.
hyperbole is you putting on any woman (since you don't know this one) a desire for what *you personally* would want or not want.

Which um, kind of negates the whole idea of choice...

How does stating that the state is forcing this woman's body to grow a fetus to term negating a choice that even you admit she never made?

Make it make sense.

😅

I literally never said "must." Even what you quote says "may have."

I'm sorry, Hatuey. But until you can stop being dishonest about what I've said this is fruitless. I can't argue against an argument you've created out of things I never said.

The only person here who has made definitive statements about what women want or don't want is you.

If you can be honest we can discuss this. If that's what you want. Not so sure about that anymore 😂

I literally never said "must." Even what you quote says "may have."

If we do not abide by the imaginary choice you think she may have made, we aren't negating her choices, correct? You agree that the only entity forcing anything on anyone is the state forcing this woman's body to become an incubator for this fetus, right?

Make it make sense.

😁

The woman was 9 weeks pregnant. She likely didn’t even know she was pregnant. But let’s keep her body going to force a birth out of her brain dead body and in doing so traumatize her living child and put her family in debt with this moronic religious extremist based stunt and fascism that’s not based in reality of how conception works and what a fetus actually is (it’s not a person nor should it have rights or supersede the rights of actual people and actually cause them to be stripped back not allowing people to have control over their bodies).

Her body is literally being used as an incubator to grow a ****ing child. There should be no defending this, it’s demented and dystopian as ****.

This may or may not be the 5th time I've said this, I wish you would just read before reacting: the only entity forcing anything here is the state of GA forcing a choice on her and her family.

I really don't get what the problem is here...but hopefully this clears things up. But honestly, if you had just read the posts, you would have known all this pages ago.

😁

No, liberals would say that, if she had a living will, it should be respected as to her will over the fate of the corpse, and if she had designated a person to have the authority to decide about artificial means of keeping her body going, that person's will should be respected.

They would never say that the state had authority to decide for a reason. If the state can override a living person's will regarding the fate of his/her corpse or medical means of artificially continuing her body processes, etc., then it will be able to override your will not to donate the organs of your corpse for transplant, and ultimately it will be be able to override your will not to donate the organs of your body while still living.

By supporting such state authority, you
What authority did I support? I was just making fun of a liberal's absurd sense of self-righteousness.
are leading to that place where our extra kidneys can be stolen from us just because "we don't need them." But we should have the right to choose whether or not to be organ donors. No one should have the right to our organs, or our bodies, dead or alive, against our living will.

All that shit talking about how her choice is being denied and she chose pregnancy just to put the mask back on and pretend you were agreeing with me.

Sigh.

😆

The people of GA vote for this type of impossible and awful situation.

If they want to not have loved ones or themselves go through this then they're the ones who have to vote for reps who will fight for choice.

Until then this is what it is. There's only so much pro-choice individuals can do.

I do however foresee a lawsuit against the state of GA.

When did I say her choice has been denied? Show your work.

Pretend I agree with you? You made your arguments against mine...*after* I had already made them, LOL. Including outright saying GA does not care what I think. So you're agreeing with me, not the other way around. Or pretending to?
Not sure what the point is here but...yeah...

😁

So nothing then. Got it.
@Bullseye jumped into the thread knowing nothing about the story, insists there must be more to the story, yet has no evidence that there is more to the story. This is the epitome of MAGA. In addition to the pain and suffering the family is enduring, the doctor and hospital bills will be outrageous, with filing for bankruptcy as the only way out.

When did I say her choice has been denied?

Sure, as soon as you show this woman "chose" to be used as an incumbator for a fetus (or as you called it chose to be pregnant) after her brain activity ceased.

😁

Oh wow they voted for fascist shit so we should just let civil rights and human rights be violated because people voted for it! Brilliant ****ing take there.

Also, no Georgia citizens didn’t vote to put this asinine oppressive abortion law into place. There has been no ballot initiative for abortion. This purely from politicians and their own views being forced upon people.

This is also a result of roe v wade being overturned which was not something supported by the general public, it was judges voting with their personal religious beliefs influencing it and with the party that installed them to overturn it.

Nope. We pro choicers have been fighting and fighting and fighting and fighting for other women's rights, some of us personally for literally decades.

But we can not FORCE people to choose rights. *There is only so much we can do.*

We can not force them to vote for their own protection.

We went to the polls nationally, we went to the polls statewide and locally, we spread the word everywhere we could, demonstrated, emailed our reps...and guess what the nation overall and some states chose anyway and that's us "letting" rights be violated? Um how?

This is 2025 Stupid America and it sure as hell isn't *our* fault...

No we can force rights to be respected and have done so in the past lol. Or do you just ignore how civil rights were enforced by the federal gov upon racist southern states still trying to segregate black people?

And no, "chose to be pregnant" does not mean chose to have a medical accident while pregnant and be kept on life support...it means...chose to be pregnant.

And even then I didn't say that's definitely what she chose. I said odds lean in favor of her having wanted to be pregnant (not get, but be, bc who knows) as she had not sought an abortion.

Show where I said what you're asserting and we can have an honest discussion about it.

😁

WTF? No.

What do you suggest we do to force this family's rights in GA to be respected? In addition to our already constant, never-ending battle for women's bodily rights. I'm curious.

I'm a woman, I have fought for my and other women's rights for 40 years...but...I should also change how people vote in GA? How? Have you been watching and listening to us for the past 9 years, at least? But...it's still our fault and we should make Georgians vote the way we want them to? How?

Is *any* of the responsibility on these red states? BTW, we also fought for this not to be state's rights in the first place...

The cruelty is the point. Reducing women to an incubation chamber to save a non person is insanely cruel.
What hogwash. Adriana Smith is legally and medically dead. She no longer exists as a person or anything else for that matter. The unborn child does exist and whether you regard the 21-week unborn child as a current person or not the fact remains that the child is the only entity coming out the other side of this as a person.

When did I say she chose to be and pregnant and on life support?

Please demonstate she chose to be pregnant. So far you can't seem to demonstrate she chose anything other than the choices you think she may have made.

How convenient.

😁

Did I say she definitely chose to be pregnant?

Can you show me where?
