Robbie Middleton was tied to a tree, doused with gas, and then burned alive on his eighth birthday. The child survived, but suffered from cancer caused by burns which covered 99 percent of his little body. Before dying 13 years after the horrific attack, Middleton named his attacker during a death bed video. Don Collins, 27, has been charged with felony murder for allegedly igniting the inferno which resulted in the third-degree burns and ultimately the young man’s death.
Why did it take 13 years to name his attacker?

I'm absolutely sick to my stomach after reading about this - and I never heard about it after all this time? Right in Texas - what the ****?
I can't even click the link. God!!! Where they HELL are you?? Jesus Christ.''
Texas: do your thing. Quickly.

That is absolutely horrible. I hope the perp gets life in prison in the general population... they'd make him suffer for it.
I will now try my best not to think about this ever again.
He was obviously terrified to death . . . look what he did to him? I'm sure it haunted him every moment of every day like a devil. Why didn't he? Why would he - I think he was brave for finally telling about it even though just saying it out loud was probably more difficult than anything else he ever endured psychologically.
That poor child was absolutely destroyed that day. I don't think things get more evil than that.
A lot of people take their worst secrets to the grave - or divulge it just before they die . . . I hope he finally was able to find some peace after that.

Man that is ****ed up..
Problem is how are they going to prove this without a reasonable doubt in court?
Not sure I can agree with executing someone for acts when they were 13. Life in prison, sure. Death penalty, maybe not.

the justice system of modern world must change. .these psychos must be executed after they are made to experience the same thing they applied to their victims..i will always support the death penalty.
People here like to say the "our legal system isn't perfect, but its the best in the world so far."
I believe that statement is not accurate.
The 8 year old (at the time) got the DP (eventually) along with extensive, unimaginable suffering for years, what is not right about the humane execution of the monster (human garbage?) that inflicted that upon his victim? If tried/sentenced as a juvenile I doubt anything can be done now since juvenile sentences usually end at age 21 or result in adult parole only. See link:

From the story the cancer could be tied to the fire because of its nature. I don’ t know much about that, how sound that is. That will come down to dueling expert witnesses. From the story, he was already able get a civil settlement but I agree with the rest of your post. Sad, sad situation but the case as described has some serious problems muchless having death sentence certainty.Bad facts make bad laws and a death sentence gets lots of appeals. The kid did not die directly from the act. He died more than a decade later from cancer. The kid just happened to give a deposition just before his death? How wonderful for the prosecution to convict someone on unchallenged oral evidence not subject to cross examination when the article said he testified he "thought" the other guy was the one who set him on fire. If you want people to be able to put to death on such scant evidence, then do not be surprised if there are not a 1000 more people found innocent 20 years into jail. The whole rape two weeks earlier thing in the exact same spot could lead some to wonder why he would be alone in the exact same spot again so soon afterward. I have no desire to bash the victim. Everything he said could be 100% true, but it also feels like there is the possibility that the kid could have been coached as well since I am sure he was well medicated that close to death. So in my mind when there is doubt, you do not put the guy to death but his unrelated conduct warrants the life sentence to me to begin with.
