Boston Update:

Celtics 27-2. Best 2-loss start in NBA history. Running away and hiding in the Atlantic division. Already beaten the Cavs, the number 2 team in the league. If the Cs survive this four game California/Oregon road trip unscathed (a tall order to be sure), the Bulls 72 win mark is in real danger.

Bruins 25-5-4. Seeming headed for 110-120 points for the season. Best record in the east and starting to pull away in the Northeast Division. Even drawing closer to the Sharks for the best record in the entire league. Who would have thought the Bs would be THIS good when the season started?

Patriots 10-5. Who would have thought the Pats would be the worst Boston-area team on Christmas Day? What's amazing is that the Pats are one-game away from the third seed in the AFC despite injuries that would have crippled any other time. Conversely, the Pats can still be the second 11-5 team not to make the playoffs if the Pats win but the Dolphins and Ravens also both win. Still, great spirit and grit despite the injuries.

Well, it is almost Jan 1st and the Bs show no signs of slowing down. They are running away with the Eastern Conference and are rapidly catching up to the Sharks in the race for the President's Trophy.

Frankly, the Bs dominance has come as a surprise to me, though I am enjoying it.

I knew that West Coast swing was going to be tough. Still, rather hit a wall in December than in May or June.

BTW, If the Bruins win today (currently tied 1-1) the Bs will have the highest point total in the NHL!

For those not paying attention to hockey:

The Bruins now have the best point total in the NHL.
The Bruins have scored more goals than any team in the NHL.
The Bruins are tied for #1 in Goals Allowed (with Minnesota and have played two more games than them)
The Bruins have won TEN games in a row. (All in regulation)
The Bruins just won a home-and-home with the defending Eastern Conference champs.
The Bruins are 1-0 in January.
The Bruins were 12-1 in December.
The Bruins were 11-1-1 in November.
The Bruins are 27-3-1 since October 25.

No one is playing better hockey right now than the Bruins and they have gotten better every month. If they get any better and stay healthy, get ready to just hand them Lord Stanley's Cup in the spring.
