Seeing an avatar that says "black lives matter", let's just cut to the chase. Which lives matter? Don't be shy about it. Pick your team.
No lives - everyone sucks
Hmmm. I'm an "all lives matter" gal. BUT! Blue Lives deserve our strict attention. We simply must realize that cops are human beings, that they aren't perfect, that they make mistakes. There is a HUGE!! difference between a cop that acts in a depraved manner and one that makes a mistake. In our current witch hunt mindset, I think we've lost sight of that.
Of course. :mrgreen:That's the, "I'm not biased, I hate everyone" option.
I completely agree with this, but... we have long used the "cops are human and make mistakes too" line of thinking to rationalize and justify the depraved cop's actions, as well, and that's why we are here now. We talk the talk, we don't walk the walk.
It's easy to say "all cops are bad", or "all cops are human", but until we actually start holding the depraved cops accountable and separating them from the good cops it's all just jaw-jackin'.
And I mean actually doing it, not just giving lip service.
:dohsomethings wrong here...he should have said I want to make sure I got the kill no questions asked....

Why specify "black"? Why not just say "lives matter"? If you don't want separations then don't separate. When someone says "black lives matter," you interpreted this as an implication that some other lives don't? That's interesting.
Wrong. But interesting.

Because if someone holds up a sign that says "all lives matter," you probably aren't going to understand the specific problem being highlighted. You'd probably just say "yep," rather than engaging on the actual issue.
Saying black lives matter doesn't mean you don't believe other lives matter.
What is the actual issue that saying Black Lives Matter really highlights? Because that does send a message that a large part of society seems to believe. If a black person is killed by a police officer people are outraged. If a white person is killed by an officer, almost noone bats an eye.
So again I ask what problem is this movement is trying to highlight?
Police officers using deadly force without warrant? Or black people should be held to a different standard and treated differently but killing other races is ok?
Just as there is also a difference between a cop that acts crazy versus a system that trains an "us versus them" or "thin blue line" mentality where a result is that police will be more likely to use deadly force.Hmmm. Then why specify black?
My primary concern has always been the lack of accountability. When I make a mistake at work, there is accountability. When someone at McDonald's makes a mistake there is accountability. When a cop makes a mistake there's no accountability if there's nothing caught on camera or there are no witnesses. Many people who reflexively defend cops seem to ignore that cops are government agents. I can't wrap my mind around why someone would be comfortable with government agents making mistakes and then facing no accountability. Why do teenagers who work in fast food have higher standards of accountability than government agents who use deadly force? That does not make sense.Hmmm. I'm an "all lives matter" gal. BUT! If we are being honest...you would caveat that with black lives, that can be exploited for political gain, matter.
There were 19 black lives lost and 69 wounded in TWO cities over the memorial day weekend (Chicago and Baltimore).
You wont see anyone taking to the streets over them.
