Bill Barr explains why Trump is in big trouble

There are a lot of issues in that indictment, but Barr really just touched on one specific charge that I think everyone can understand--the obstruction of the subpoena. There are going to be all sorts of arguments made about what he was allowed to keep, what was classified and what wasnt, but what cant be disputed is how Trump handled the subpoena. There is no way out of that for him

IMO there's no way out of him, on tape, showing top secret docs to people (at least 2 instances) without security clearances AND admitting he knows it's wrong by asking them (paraphrased) not to tell anyone because it's not allowed.

Agreed. But all that flows from his obstructing the subpoena. Had he allowed his lawyers to go through the boxes and remove all classified material. there would have been no raid, no special council, no indictment, no tapes of him saying stupid shit. He did this to himself and its disqualifying.

I guess I like mentioning it because it truly demonstrates abrogating the Espionage Act and his complete disregard for our national security. And our troops, spies, personnel overseas, etc.

It's a clear demonstration that he does not belong in the WH.

Well, according to you we are all going to be dead in 8 years so what does it matter who we vote for? So why dont you go have fun on the fringes with your net zero nonsense, and let the rest of us discuss reality.
LOL.

You should understand a topic before making declarative statements, young Padawan.

Bill Barr was on Special Report last night and laid out why Trump was indicted. The whole interview is posted, but the key is right here:

If Trump believed he had a good argument for why the documents should remain at Mar-a-Lago, he should have filed a motion to quash the subpoena, Barr said.

"He could have given the documents to the government and then sued to bring them back and made his legal arguments as to why they're really his," he contended.

"But he didn't do that. What did he do? He engaged in an outrageous act of obstruction and deception that obstructed that subpoena. And that is wrong. That's a violation of law. That's a serious problem for him."

Barr said the indictment alleged Trump "hid" documents from his attorneys and then asked his counsel to search for what remained.

That sums it up - that and the fact that Trump is apparently on tape admitting that he is willfully in possession of sensitive materials that aren't his.

Now you can argue all day that Trump is the victim of selective prosecution

You cannot. FFS, any individual serving in the Executive Branch under him or Biden would have been prosecuted the first time. There wouldn't have been any asking a 'normal' person for them to kindly return those documents. FBI would have simply gotten the warrant and kicked the ****ing door in, and not a judge anywhere would have stopped them.

@Fletch needs to change the word "victim" to "beneficiary."

Number 1 we arent discussing underlings and number 2 I wasnt referring to this particular instance but of the past 7 years in general. So FFS try and pay attention.

Wait, let me get the world's tiniest violin...

If MAGA voters and the idiots they vote for had done their job and not selected an obvious conman, they would have protected the country from Trump and Trump from himself. The past 7 years have been leading up to this moment, and it's because a bunch of moronic voters prioritize liberal tears over integrity and basic decency as a prerequisite to hold the office.

You really dont know wtf you are talking about do you.

I really do and that's what irks you. Describes MAGA right down to a smashed can of Bud Light.
No, it describes your ignorant opinion and nothing more. Pack up you hate and rage and take it somewhere else.

Now you can argue all day that Trump is the victim of selective prosecution and that the left is out to get him in any way they can. Thats all true, but he got himself here. By obstructing that subpoena, Trump served up his own head on a silver platter. He should withdraw but he wont, but under no circumstances should he be the nominee. And I say that as someone who voted for him twice. The man obstructed justice. He lied to his lawyers, lied to the FBI and lied to the public when he said he was cooperating fully.
Trump must go.

Have you heard any interesting or humorous theories about why Trump chose this row to hoe?

I think he did it because he believed those records were his and he thought he could get away with it. Usually with Trump the simplest explanation is the correct one.

Unfortunately for the Trump defense team, plenty of audio of Trump shows that is false. Which is going to get him some conspiracy convictions.

What recordings have you heard that disprove what I said?

There are opinions floating around that Trump wanted this fight.
If he isn't convicted, then the dems and the FBI/DOJ look even more crooked and more biased.
BTW, when is Biden going to debate RFK jr?

Holy shit. I never thought I would see the day that Fletch made perfect sense.

For everyone giving him shit - WTF?

Cut him some slack. He’s trying, for piss sakes. Everybody’s always saying, “can’t we come together?” And when somebody tries, they get shit on?

I mean - just because you don’t agree with everything he is saying, at least give him credit for doing what most Trumpers haven’t done - said that Trump was wrong.

I am gobsmacked, but credit where it is due. Good post.

(Hope that doesn't set the MAGA hounds against you) ;)

There are opinions floating around that Trump wanted this fight.
A few of those opinions, in which I completely agree with, is that DJT wanted to gain more pity votes, raise ridiculous amount of revenge money and tag the FBI an DOJ as being weaponized against him in hopes to void all legal actions currently ongoing and others to come.

He is learning that Trumpism doesn't work in a court of law.
