Biggest failure in US history?

Not impeaching and jailing the judges who allowed FDR's unconstitutional power grab to persist

Demise of the concept of personal responsibility and accountability.

Oh no, I'm sufficiently ashamed of myself for voting for Reagan. I have not voted for a Republican for the White House since.

"Biggest" implies a single issue, not a laundry list of imperfection that the Global Left cling to in order to explain away the absence of their utopian dream.

You consider the majority of Americans to be "the global left"?

How pathetic for you to have such a fixation. Ive seen some that had it bad...but you are the a number one tops. You are even so incomprehensibly twisted you felt that was somehow related to you? Priceless! :lamo

Well, actually, I had no idea to whom that random statement was made. I just found a funny way to respond to it. So, I think your fixation tag might need some review.

Just nonsense.

I'd ask you to justify stuff like the NRA and other stuff that clearly violates the tenth amendment but I realize it would be a waste of time

more contrarian idiocy in that post of yours.

It only violates the constitution if the court says it violates the constitution. As an attorney surely you know that all laws are presumed to be Constitutional until held otherwise by a court of comptetent jurisdiction.

LOL I see the brainwashing continues in US schools. The US lost the war.. pure and simple. The North and the Viet Cong took over the South... hence you lost.

yes.. "we" lost.. and by "we", I mean the South Vietnamese.

last I checked, it took the North an additional 3 years to conquer to South after we pulled out and removed all support for them.

you say it's still a US war, even after 3 years ... but what about 5 years?.. 10 years?... 50 years.... what is the magic number that denotes the point in time where it ceases to be our war?

if the Communist regime in Vietnam falls today.. is Vietnam a US victory ?

fact of the matter is this( and I do mean fact)... at no time was our mission to conquer the North... it was to prevent the North from conquering the South... period, end of story.
at no time during our involvement did the North conquer the South.. at no time , under our direct or indirect support, did the South fall to the North.... at no time under our support was the South in a position to be conquered.
we were absolutely victorious in our mission... we did exactly what we said we would do ( prevent the North from conquering the South)

now, if one is to revise our mission to say that we were attempting to conquer the North.... one might say we lost.
if one is to revise our mission to say we we charged with preventing the South from being conquered in perpetuity, even in the absence of direct or indirect support.... one might say we lost.
to say we lost necessarily requires that one revises our mission to something other than what it actually was...and it requires the US being held accountable for actions that were not under our control , for a number of years later.

on topic, our biggest failure, bar none... is the Civil War.

a conflict which directly caused the deaths of 600,000 Americans, with many many more wounded.

a conflict which did not need to be fought.

opposing forces , one with the slavery of humans on the mind, the other with tyranny and subjugation on the mind ... led the single largest loss of life this country has ever seen... we lost more Americans in that single conflict than all other conflicts , present or past.....combined.

it is something we all should be ashamed of.. it was a complete and utter failure, and it did not need to happen.

Your conclusion is correct, even if your reasoning is faulty. The Civil War was our biggest failure, but it was inevitable once the framers of the Constitution decided to permit the institution of slavery. The South was not going to give it up willingly and the North was not going to let the South secede in order to preserve it.

I'm ashamed we were forced into the position of having to fight the Civil War. I'm not ashamed it was fought and I'm glad of the outcome.

A mindless robot fixated on a guy that was president 20+ years and 4 presidents ago...no...I think its spot on! :lamo

I've heard all that before. The fact that the supreme court reversed itself (for whatever reason), is the telling story.

No, just a spontanious post that hit a funny nerve.

That's pretty funny coming from someone who voted for Bush twice.
How entirely rude!!!
You don't know who I voted for, so don't waste your time trolling me.

Yeah, this one is such a no brainer it's in a class by itself. It was a nearly fatal flaw in the Constitution.

Slavery came about through indentured servitude. Indentured servitude came about because the early colonists in Jamestown were too stupid to grow food. The title of that little saga should be "And God Wept".

I think the truly biggest failure is our tax system. I firmly believe that it is the biggest reason for our class warfare. I also believe it ends up causing the government to lose revenue due to the ridiculous tax codes and rules. Eliminate all of it with a flat tax rate and no deductions. The wealthiest end up paying less in percentage than the middle class does. So many arguments abound by taxes and we waste such valuable time deciding what is even a tax. This group pays this, that group pays that but only if this happens and that doesn't...

Allowing corruption (Money) to become the largest influence in politics. Unfortunately, this failure is still unfolding, and I see it as the "Biggest Failure" based on the possibility it may very well lead to our republic collapsing.

An educated person... I didn't know you guys still existed. How r u?

Well if the republicans can continue denying the existence of global warming, even when the empirical data exists, and the scientists, who are the experts not the republicans, the scientist publish paper after paper proving its existence. But if they keep debating it, even when the debate is and has been over, they don't have to acknowledge the problem, therefore they don't have to deal with it. It's laughable that the idea of a ship carrying two of every species on the planet is possible but not this.

Or better yet God exists in a realm above space and time, he is all powerful, he is the creator of all.... oh and by the way, did i mention he has a son he has a son? LOL WHAT?

"Adding the word "clean" to the word "coal"... "it doesnt make clean coal"

Well i bet if jesus was really the son of god, he'd favor universal healthcare, ending the pointless, wasteful, war on drugs where we incarcerate ridiculously high rates of non-violent offenders, especially when their biggest crime is grass. What kind of a sick being creates mandatory minimum sentences for such mild infractions?

Keep watching fox news, ur pathetic

Allowing Europe's aristocratic tumor to metastasize in the New World. Cut off the children of the rich at age 18. No allowances, no trust funds, no inheritance. If we have to do it on our own, so must they. Or else they can go back to the crumbling castles of Europe where they belong, instead of legally forcing us to eat their dust here.

The guillotine fodder who think they have a right to downgrade the next generation by setting up their brats in pre-ordained legacied positions must have gotten their own money through luck or cheating, since they have nothing against biased competition.
