The nominee has been very outspoken against some news outlets, and would likely influence the Commission to silence them. Sohn said “Fox News has had the most negative impact on our democracy.” She has called FOX News “state-sponsored propaganda,” and demanded a government “hearing” into its broadcasts.

“Gigi Sohn is not fit to serve at the FCC. She has deceived Senators about business conflicts, recused herself from certain FCC matters and called conservative outlets ‘state-sponsored propaganda'." Senator John Thune said after a confirmation hearing.

“Gigi Sohn’s problems are issues of ethics and recusal - she is unacceptable no matter how many Republicans and Democrats are at FCC.” wrote Grover Norquist, president of American for Tax Reform.

Apparently an awful lot of people don't realize how much technology has rendered the power of the FCC obsolete WRT to TV.
And the most alarming thing of all is, I'd bet ten bucks 99% of you use cable or satellite instead of OTA (antennas) which is where the repository of FCC's power lies re television.
The FCC could shut down every television transmitter in the country and 90% of the viewers wouldn't even know it.

PS: Fox News Channel is a cable news outlet owned by News Corporation of America, Inc.
They have a handful of O&O stations (owned and operated) but the majority are simply affiliates and can broadcast what they want.
But aside from the O&O stations, Fox News Channel does not operate more than a handful of over the air transmitters, and the ones they do own could just simply sell to another investor and
be back on the air in a jiffy and continue carrying FNC, even if FCC padlocked their transmitter.
