Biden wowing them in Maui

OH! The HUMANITY! I have to leave my swank hotel room to go visit the peons and pretend I care!! WHO will clean the whiskey bottles and my unfinished lobster dinner plate on the floor of my suite overlooking the beach? I gotta get out of this lousy job that only pays $125K a year.

Not many people are ready to work a job which requires preparation and commitment to responding on short notice with dropping everything about normal life and traveling to wherever a disaster strikes with little to no warning, then staying there for extended duration, working hands-on long hours in filthy, dirty and potentially toxic situations.

Devastated disaster victims are thankful to have essential help. Americans feel secure knowing that if it happens to them they are not on their own.

FEMA shows that our government has compassion.

You are, as usual, incorrect. The insurance companies have set up catastrophe teams that go out to all major events on a moment's notice. They get maybe an extra $100.00 a day, a room at a residence Inn or similar hotel, and a cheap rental car and are working 12-hour days to handle the claims. I guarantee you that insurance adjusters are not put up at a 5-star hotel. You see, this is the reason we hate government and the mindset of socialists. The government has unlimited money and they are free to spend it like drunk sailors while the REAL working class has to watch their pocketbooks.

Once again, Peacnik, this is a FIRE and everyone is insured. You don't need any 350 or 1,000 FEMA people out there because the insured people are, well INSURED!

If the federal government made no response to a tragedy, Republicans would be all over their case for the lack of response.

But the federal government is making an appropriate response, so naturally, Republicans are critical of the response.

Basically, the federal government is in a no-win situation. It is going to be criticized by Republicans whether they do something or not.

The correct thing to do is help out in a disaster.

If all the residence inns are filled, and the only thing left is the tourist resorts, of course those are going to be utilized. The likely case is that the federal government is using whatever resources are available. It doesn't pass the sniff test that they would initially go to the most expensive and distant hotels without first using the more nearby and affordable choices.

Hatred of the same self-government that we created ourselves and have the power to modify as needed is inappropriate and not patriotic.

If there is some aspect of our government which could use improvement then the truly American civic duty is roll up the shirt sleeves and do the public service of determining in a bipartisan way what should be done; and implementing it.

The words: 'bitch, bitch, bitch' are not found in the Constitution.

I have to wonder how many people think everyone and everything in Lahaina is covered by insurance and the FEMA disaster team is of no use at all, and treating the disaster as a chance to have a Maui vacation on the taxpayer dime.

The government has gotten FAR too large and does way too many things. They should not be in Maui at all. Biden only went for the show and he was his usual disaster.

Yeah. Biden is really wowing them in MNaui:

An equipment rental business in Honolulu, Hawaii, slammed President Biden's recent comments comparing a fire in his kitchen to the deadly and devastating Maui wildfires.

Hawaiian Rent-All, known online for its witty signage, changed its business' storefront to send Biden a message after his recent speech in Hawaii.

"Sorry you almost lost your '67 Corvette in a fire, Mr. President," the sign reads. "Maui strong."
