Biden to ban Russian oil imports

It will be interesting to see if Europe follows suit. American bans will not effect Russia, but will raise gas prices in America.

Oil is a world market. The US is doing this to put pressure in Europe to follow suit. THAT will hurt Russia

I was all for this until I talked to a friend in the energy industry. He basically said this was a bad move because this will increase the cost of oil per barrel globally. If oil is $125 a barrel now and then after this sanction the cost goes up to $180, even if Putin gives China a 20% discount he's still making 20% more than he was before the sanctions. I still don't like the idea of us funding the war effort though so I'm torn. I'm interested in getting feedback on this.

It doesn't.

And new wells won't help anything today. It takes years to get oil onto the market from a new well.

We can do something about the high price of gas now, today.

Buy a hybrid or fully electric vehicle.

I switched to hybrid in 2001 and have never bought a regular gas vehicle since.

High gas prices are a bummer but it doesn't take a big bite out of my budget.

The last time I filled my tank it cost me just under 35 dollars. That was last month. I still have half the tank left.

None of us have to pay the high prices for gas.

We have the technology and vehicles now.

We can make the choice to buy those vehicles and tell the oil companies to pound sand.

I did in 2001. I wish more people would do the same.

Europe imports vastly more energy products from Russia than USA. I don't see them turning off the taps and letting people freeze in winter just because America is willing to endure gasoline prices that are still lower than European averages. But maybe they will
