Biden adds hurdles to federal grants for charter schools, keeps promise to teachers unions

now let's turn to the feeding of the students
do charter schools provide lunches for the students ... at no cost for the low-income students?
how about providing breakfast ... again at no cost to the students who would qualify for such meals in public school?
If someone is not capable of feeding their child breakfast, they have much larger problems. Maybe even bordering on abuse.

and let's look at after school and summer programs like the ones provided for students of the public schools
do charter schools offer similar programs that provide child care for those who need it like the public schools ... including for those who qualify for subsidized care at public schools?
Where is the line on what taxpayers have to support other people's children? Government schools are SUPPOSED to be for educational purposes not glorified child care centers.

Pointing out the barriers to poor kids attending charter schools that are privately operated that everybody says is open to all students. But based on your post it would appear you concur that families unable to afford the meals and the transportation and the absence of child care can’t afford to send these kids to the charter school so they must continue to send their students to the public school as it offers food and transportation and childcare. But when we pull the money out of the public school system to fund the private charter schools we are taking from the less affluent and providing for the more affluent.

But when the money is "pulled", so is the student.

Less students that have to be provided the basic necessities of life, which the parents apparently cannot do, less cost. Right?

the net result is kids of poor families being unable to enroll in the PUBLIC privately operated charter schools ... which receive their funding from the PUBLIC school system

we are carving out money from the system that teaches poor kids to give to private companies to operate charter schools the poor kids are unable to attend because they cannot afford the extra expenses required to attend the charter schools

charter schools should operate
only without drawing a dime from the public school system

Biden DOES keep some campaign promises, to unions, to greenies. The rest of us can go to Hell.

Nothing to my special interests. He did at least hint at governing as a moderate, for all Americans. That has not happened.

Here's a look at a particular state in US News & World Report's 2022 High School rankings, Utah:

The latest U.S. News & World Report’s Best High Schools 2022 rankings are out, and Beehive Science & Technology Academy of Sandy ranked first among all Utah high schools and 305th nationally.

Utah’s highest ranking traditional high school was Corner Canyon High School in Draper at 980th nationwide, according to U.S. News’ rankings. The Canyons School District high school was ranked seventh best overall in Utah, with the top spots in the state going to six public charter schools.

Utah high schools that ranked No. 2 to No. 6 for the state were, respectively, InTech Collegiate Academy in North Logan; Northern Utah Academy for Engineering and Science in Layton; Academy for Math Engineering & Science (AMES) in Murray; Itineris Early College High School in West Jordan; and Karl G. Maeser Preparatory Academy in Lindon.

Rounding out the top 10 were Skyline High School in Millcreek at No. 8, Farmington High School at No. 9, and Timpview High School in Provo at No. 10.

As best I can tell the last three are all traditional public schools, so that would be six public charter schools in the top ten, in ranks one through six.

Let's be completely honest. The reason so many people on the right want charter schools is so that they can send their kid to "school" with some underqualified person that will teach Jesus instead of science and math topics conservatives despise like climate change.
Lol
A close family friend of ours sent their daughter to a Christian academy because they wanted their daughter to learn "Christian science" and not the stuff they're teaching in private schools. Brainwash your children with your own money and time.
Which would be a better position if you could opt out of property taxes for schools.

You're a childless fascist who spends most of his time on DP praising Putin and the Russians. I don't think anybody cares what you have to say about educating children. We all know what kinds of things you'd like to teach them.

OK, if you want to legally establish that childless people should have no right to determine education policy I will go for that.

Nope, just people like you who want a fascist theocracy for the US and who are constantly praising dictatorships. Those people don't belong anywhere near children.
