This: #illridewithyou: support for Muslim Australians takes off following Sydney siege - ABC News (Australian Broadcasting Corporation)

#illridewithyou is trending worldwide on Twitter, rising by hundreds of tweets per minute - within hours it had been used in almost 120,000 tweets.
702 ABC Sydney have had calls from Muslim listeners who say they are too scared to ride on public transport at the moment.
The hashtag appears to have come from a Facebook post from Rachael Jacobs who was riding on a train, and noticed a Muslim woman quietly take off her head covering.
In her post she said: "I ran after her at the train station. I said 'put it back on. I'll walk with u."

This action, this attitude, is the best way of ensuring radicalism gains no foothold in Australia. I'm willing to bet the ****head who held hostages wanted to unite Australian Muslims behind his martyrdom. Supporting Muslims in the face of his actions takes away any validity his actions may have seemed to have to any people.

The Aussie government (as well as that of every other western government) can easily stop Islamic terrorism- all they have to do is stop their military interventions overseas.

There was a joint prayer session that included an Imam, a Rabbi and a priest at Lakemba Mosque last night too. I imagine the radicals weren't thrilled about that show of unity either.

Ah well, too bad.

Australian Muslims condemn 'madman' gunman as #illridewithyou trends | SBS News

"The guy was a total outcast," said Australian Iranian man Yavar Tayebi. "No one in our community, none of the Iranian Shiites, wanted a bar of him."

"You take one look and think, he is an idiot," said Sheik Mousselmani, President of the Supreme Islamic Shia Council of Australia, who warned Federal Police about Monis in 2008. "Nothing about him added up."

Martin Place gunman deranged, deluded and dangerous

Sorry but the radicals aren't going to give a rat's ass if there's a worldwide tweet. Honestly, outside of the leadership (for recruiting purposes) the grunts of the inferior subhuman army (ISIS, Taliban, etc.) are mindless sheep, no more intelligent than a 5 year old.

I'm still wondering why the media had a clear shot at this person [after positively identifying him] but a sniper didn't.

Maybe Australia will teach the world. Let us hope.

I think people really didn't want this to turn into another Cronulla.

It's not blow a bunch of random things up in an effort to change a broken culture and invade a country that had nothing to do with it?

How many Muslims have been killed by civillians in response to terrorist attacks?

#illridewithyou is a crock.

The grunts of the inferior subhuman army aren't in Australia, and this sort of action prevents any being recruited by lessening the sense of isolation and persecution that drives people to join such organisations.

I saw this. Pretty cool way for people from different backgrounds and cultures to unite. However, your thread title is a bit misleading, since the best response to terrorism is to use something like lasers or human sized food processors on the terrorists.

I've been told there are liberals down under.

It wouldn't have been politically correct to snipe a Muslim.

Could you see Muslims looting and burning down their own neighborhoods.

Then the libs would be having Michel Brown type of demonstrations all across Australia demanding that the sniper be tried for murder.

#illridewithyou is a crock.

Quite a few Muslims were murdered here in America after 9/11...and a few of them were Sikhs who were murdered because the idiots assumed that anyone wearing a turban must be Muslim terrorists.

No. We're not as stupid as Americans.

Stop ****ing with folk? That's what we do best!
