BECAUSE I SAY SO! (political labels)

I am X, therefore anyone who disagrees with me on any subject to any degree must be Y. Y is the enemy because they disagree with me. Y is evil. Y is the cause of everything bad.

There are no shades of grey. At least, not on the internet. Think Israel overreacted when they blew up a palestinian building and some civilians died? YOU SUPPORT TERRORISTS. Think Medicare should get some cuts? YOU WANT TO KILL GRANDMA. Think the military should get some cuts? YOU HATE OUR TROOPS. Think unemployment benefits have been extended too far? YOU WANT PEOPLE TO STARVE IN THE STREETS.

Jon Stewarts cries go unheard. America devours itself... at least in the media and on the internet. Actual people walking around live their lives they way they have been living their lives and barely notice.

People would definitely do a lot more to judge a person as an individual, rather than as a candidate for a party, for sure.

I'm not sure if eliminating political parties is a plausible scenario though. To begin with it would probably be a violation of freedom of association/assembly. And I personally believe people who are of like mind will end up organizing themselves officially or unofficially no matter what the environment is.

Yes judging people as individuals is a great idea in "theory" And as you mention you cannot stop folks from getting together. Plus there is power in numbers.

In theory it's a great idea. LOL But being that "no man is an island" & that there is power in numbers, the wholeeliminating political parties thing will not work. Nice fantasy!

I agree that just about everything on internet is one extreme or the other. Reality is more "shades of gray" I think we would all do a lot better if we tried to understand each other better, than taking such "hard stances'
