BBB just passed

there are supposed to be a follow up reconcilliation and recission and appropriation.
So the Repub could choose to act like a real governing party instead of the usual fracas
It will be interesting to watch as the talk is all will be focused on cutting spending and ending certain programs that are no longer used but continues to be fecklessly funded. This bill fulfills all Trump's promises

There is still a way to redeem these devastating cuts to medical insurance. Namely, if the poor, desperate to survive, manage to undermine and nullify the medical racketeering we've all come to accept as a natural and essential part of living in the U.S.

Example: suppose you get bitten by a rattlesnake.
  • Fix #1: you have universal health care, or at least Medicaid or Obamacare, that picks up most or all of the bill for the vials of antivenin that run $10,000 each.
  • Fix #2: you have an underground clinic to go to, which smuggles in $10 vials of antivenin from India, and sells them at a modest markup.

It's only an albatross if the economy tanks. If the economy flourishes, it is the golden goose delivered by the GOP.

The economy was supposedly "flourishing" in 2018, and the GOP lost 41 house seats, LOL.

MENAS: Pompey doth this day laugh away his
fortune.
ENOBARBUS If he do, sure he cannot weep it back
again.
Shakespeare, Antony and Cleopatra, Act 2, Scene 6.

"Millions of people in this country have spent the last 9 months similarly laughing away their fortune.
And they sure as hell are not going to be able to weep it back again."

---Piers Stephens
This is the hilarious thing about MAGA Trumpanzees: they have absolutely no clue--I mean NO CLUE about what they are supporting. Their fearless Chimp in Chief says, "My BBB is good for you people" and they take it as gospel truth Trump is doing something good for them. Hundreds of thousands of lies later, these idiots still have not figured out the Orange Asshole is not their friend, he's their enemy.

His promise to leave Medicaid alone? 🤔

The Big Beautiful Bill just passed. This piece of legislation will determine winners and losers in 2026 and probably 2028, too.
Not so sure. They wrote the bill in such a way that all the "good stuff" starts immediately and all of the bad stuff kicks in after the midterms. Plus, alot of the "good stuff" expires in 2028, so Republicans can use it as a "hey, elect us if you want to extend those tax cuts!"

With those Iron Maiden avatars, I keep thinking you two are the same poster. 😆

Have a wonderful 4th pf July my fellow Americans!

Watch live coverage as President Donald Trump signs the "One Big Beautiful Bill Act," a multitrillion-dollar domestic policy bill. The House of Representatives voted 218-214 to send the bill to Trump's desk, meeting his July 4 deadline.

I'm much more concerned with the DP members who have the various iterations of Punisher logos, snarling bears, historic "truth tellers" and saints.

So much fake outrage from the left. There's something for everyone. It's not perfect but clearly the bill had bipartisan support.
Not a single Democrat voted for it. ZERO, out of 259 Democrats.

Maybe you should stay clear of multiplesyllabic words you don't understand?

Marjorie Taylor Greene calls the One Big Beautiful Bill a "shit show."

She complains they're being rushed to sign it.

She insists the House is not going to pass it.

Then she votes for it to help it pass.

Congress critters have no convictions or standards. None.

No tax on tips.
Temporary and limited in scope. Clearly a red meat chunk to trumps base, but insignificant.

No taxes on overtime.
Temporary and capped. Same as above.

Healthcare cuts.
People will suffer and die, literally, from these cuts.

Death blows dealt to emerging technologies - EVs, solar, other clean energy - that could have made us world leaders in these technologies. Instead, China will benefit.

Cuts to NOAA and NWS when weather extremes are growing. Makes no sense.

What are we spending money on?
ICE. Huge budgets granted to ICE to address non-existent problems.

Not all tip income is tax-free. People who work on tips still need to report their tip income and have to pay payroll taxes, which is Social Security and Medicare on tips, even if they claim the income tax deduction. A large portion of tipped workers already earn too little to owe federal taxes at all, so they wouldn't get any benefit from this deduction.
