Banning the Burqa in the US?

The wording of my other poll was rather unclear.
Here now comes a poll with a clearcut wording.

For or against a burqa-ban?

The First Amendment says NO burka ban.

Believe me I know exactly what a burqa is, that is just a really dumb comment.

I am not equating them in any way other than as expressions of religious and cultural freedoms. As long as they are not interfering with the rights of others and are complying with laws in terms of when they must remove the veil or face covering it's not my place to judge how they dress.

That is the problem with burqas. Anyone who complains they interfere with the rights of other people is correct.

Once a again: a stupid and unfunny remark.
and yet it is intellectually stronger than what was required to construct the poll
... one which offers as an option to vote to abstain from voting

no one will accuse this thread of being high-minded

Harper considered a ban for federal employees but lost the election before it could be tabled.
Of course he did....he is such a jerk

Only the burqa actually causes problems for other people in society.

Of course, now would be the worst time for it to be banned. It has all the same effects as wearing a mask.

Such as? Or were you being facetious?

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

Can't happen.

Everyone, everywhere should have this protection, imo.

I am always serious.

What do you think would happen if you wore Bose headphones at the dentist?

I haven’t had the chance to find out, they give me the office pair so I can listen to the audio on the TV I’m watching that’s embedded in the ceiling above the chair.

What would happen is you would never know what the dentist tells you because both hearing and lipreading are impossible.

I”m sorry, I just explained to you what does happen. My dentist office offers you a pair of bose headsets and a remote to watch the television set above you.

I know what happens at my dentist, you don’t have to game it out. You’ll just have to use a different poor example of the point you’re trying to make badly.

@Patriotic Voter I like your posts generally, so let me help you:

Islamic women wear the burqa as a means to hide protect their “innocence from men” (don’t bother arguing with me about that, I find all religions ridiculously misogynist and anti-woman). They can take off their burqas around other women, family, etc.

So when they go to the dentist, it’s usually a female dentist. Or if that’s some how not feasible for whatever reason. dental work/surgery/etc would be reasons they can remove their burqas.

If you were being facetious, I apologize for telling you stuff I’m sure you already know. :)

Yes, people who can't hear need to lipread.
That's a stretch. Anyone has the right to speak a language other than English, or not speak at all.

The deaf have no rights that force someone to be understood to them.

There may be cases, when a dress is not just a dress.
Example: Would it be OK to walk around in an SS Uniform?
Just asking.
Legally in the US yes. What private citizens might do is a different matter.

I abstain from voting because it’s literally something that can’t be done in this country.

I'm against it. Sounds like the fair thing to do but with this country having so many crazies, I want to see who is walking toward me and what they have in the hand..

I don’t think you can go beat up people for their political beliefs. Couldn’t the Nazi “stand his ground”?
