Baltimore Murder Rate Drops as prosecutor vows ‘you will go to prison’

Lol. Sure.

No, the problem with the bolded is that it's not there.

It’s there with many (if not most) federal aid programs given to state/local governments.

Did you read the part where I wrote this?

The gangs still exist but their prominence has dwindled as the city has grown.

Your definition of failure needs work.

I didn’t define that as as failure, but which states/cities are likely to get this federal crime fighting aid? Those with lower crime rates or those with higher crime rates?

What I'm getting is that you see Trump's fascist invasions as punishment for failure. Failure meaning anti-Trump. Do as Trump says or the Nazi shit starts. Chipocolypse Now.

I oppose those efforts. Trump’s “mass deportation” efforts are a waste of money. IMHO, a much more cost effective plan is to enact a federal eVerify mandate, coupled with changes to the FIT code, allowing the IRS to act as the primary enforcement mechanism. If the W-2 and 1099 employment ‘magnet’ was removed then many (if not most) illegal aliens would elect to self-deport.

Well, Bloodymore is a shithole blue city in the shithole blue state of Marylandstan whose Senators support MS-13 wife beating gang bangers over US citizens.

Leaving that shit hole was the best thing we ever did.
No its not.
Stop pretending to know anything about cities you haven't been to in 30 years.

Of course you do.

Only if you live within a block of the Inner Harbor. My spouse had to go John Hopkins multiple times. What a shithole part of the city that is.
Thats such bullshit.
I visited Baltimore last year and was about 1 mile away from inner harbor. No issues, plenty of wonderful places to walk to.
Family walked to Inner Harbor multiple times, never an issue.

Reading is fundamental. I said that I was in Seattle 30 years ago, not Bloodymore. And I saw Seattle shitting itself 20 years ago which is when I left that area. My last trip to Bloodymore was this year. 100% Dem run shithole of a city and state.

Johns Hopkins warns of 'disturbing increase in serious violent crimes' around Baltimore campuses

Last week, Johns Hopkins community members fell victim to 'two especially brazen and disturbing incidents'

Doesn't matter.
Clueless about any city.
And to MAGA, one homeless person, a few black people, and some trash = shithole.

That came from Faux. Can you post the same article from a reliable source?

  • Dominion settlement: The lawsuit concluded in April 2023 when Fox News paid Dominion Voting Systems $787.5 million to settle the case. While this settlement prevented a trial, it was based on the evidence collected during discovery, which showed that Fox and its leadership knowingly or recklessly disregarded the truth when spreading disinformation.

Attacking the messenger because you can't debate the facts. So sad to see and your surrender on the facts is accepted.

These statistics are skewed because the population of these cities is not as high as the population of Chicago and Baltimore.
That is why it is a rate of homicides per 100k. Not the usual leftist lie of total numbers. Bloodymore has homicide RATE twice that of Chiraq.

Better jump in line to get some patchouli while it lasts.
yes. the assassinations of MLK /RFK / JFK are all vivid memories for me. then add in John Lennon with a handgun.
These days the average schmuck can get anything.. Makes me wonder if that old 2nd Amendment is really worth it

It's often a combination of both. Given the fact we have the highest incarceration rate and population in the world, enforcement alone is clearly not the solution.
Enforcement is the breakdown of an orderly society. Out of control gangs, drug trade and even the average schmuck have become so common place we are inured to shootings...Not that I have any answers. when shootings are so common nobody even blinks an eye we are past the point of society actually caring

You need to see We Own This City.

Like I said, prison doesn't faze a lot of these criminals. Obviously locking them up, as Bates is doing, is important. But to think that that alone is leading to lower crime rates, well, you're kidding yourself.

BTW - Did you used to post on Sunspots?
No I moved out of Balto to Florida in 1999 - internet was just becoming available for consumers.
I did get a lot of letters to the editor published on the Baltimore Sun editorial page / i was big on drug legalization from a libertarian POV..
i was correct then and correct now..
If you dont want to answer what part of Balto you live because of privacy i understand.
I lived on Hillen Road and Woodburne Ave up the street from Morgan State University . Still got 2 friend that live in the neighborhood

I don't agree that enforcement is the breakdown of an orderly society at all, since crime has been ever present, the question is the level of crime present that reflects a breakdown of an orderly society. As for shootings, yes, they have become common place where now even school shootings don't have the same effect on people that they used to and these types of crimes are just as common in non urban environments.

Baltimore's closure rate on murders is 68%.

Which means one third of murderers will not in fact go to prison.

And we need to define “closure rate”.

For example, the Chicago mayor was recently celebrating a 54% clearance rate for 2024. But 117 cases were closed due to what’s called “bar to prosecute.” That means police believe they identified the killer, but prosecutors would not approve charges. If Chicago police included only cases closed by arrest, the 2024 homicide clearance rate would be 23 percent.
