Atlas Shrugged in the works. Yes again.

“I have never understood why it is ‘greed’ to want to keep the money you have earned but not greed to want to take somebody else’s money.” -- Thomas Sowell
It's amusing that people still think someone like Jeff Bezos "earned" two hundred billion dollars purely because he happens to have it.

Curiously, this popped on to my social media feed just now, and it seemed very appropriate for this thread.

Economy A of course, since the price of goods in Economy B has increased by a greater percentage than has the earning power of the 50th percentile. That’s why the 50th percentile in B is less able to afford the same home and less able to save money and build wealth.
That would be a mistake since I did not stay the value of a dollar between the two economies was different. They're not.

These folks will never understand a basic truth that is perhaps the single greatest lesson of the 20th century: human rights and property rights are two sides of the same coin. If you don't respect what's mine, you don't respect me. Failing to appreciate that reality has led, literally, to the wholesale slaughter of millions.

For the audience these posts are known as “licking one’s wounds where people will run to the safety for their foundational beliefs and myths after being challenged to think more deeply.

The audience doesn't need you to explain things for them.

Quite the reverse, actually,

They are. You just didn’t think about it when you were constructing your now failed gotcha. Don’t worry, this is a common mistake for a junior MAGA. When you decide not to sweat the details, the result is, well, the inevitable @NatMorton face-plant.

I read the book when I was young, and remember thinking that she was portraying leftists in an exaggerated fashion. When I got older, I realized that they were even worse than she made them out to be.

What do you think that proves? And please try to be specific.

That there was a concentration of wealth in the upper percentile in the Antebellum period and that The Civil War interrupted that concentration of wealth in a way similar to Wars in the 20th Century.

That's not a very artful escape.

In the example given the average worker in Economy B is better off economically by a factor of two than his counterpart in Economy A. It would seem you would rather have workers deal with a lower standard of living all in the name of better income equality. I would not, and that is where we differ.

The commune for megalomaniacs known as Gault's Gulch was a farce.

The Civil War interrupted many things that were not a cause of the Civil War. Citing that interpretation doesn't come close to proving causation.

Technically it can work with sufficient AI l, energy, and drone technology. We may get to the point where the sociopaths decide that most humans are no longer needed and they want to stop the cycle of wealth concentration/political revolution once and for all.

In the example given the average worker has to pay a higher home price by a favor of roughly 2.3 despite income only increasing by a factor of 2. Therefore it would seem you would rather workers deal with a lower standard of living all in the name of increased income inequality. I would not, and that is where we differ.

No the book is not about the characters feelings. It is about the cancerous effects of socialism on society. It is uncanny how those effects are playing out today.
Nah... it is about how a person who creates a civilization changing technology of free energy who can't stand simply being a billionaire but must be a trillionaire so he goes off and creates a sci fi valley where his industrialist wanker friends can live like the sociopaths that they are.

Anyone who wants to make a movie out of AS doesnt understand what the book is. Rands purpose in writing the book wasnt to come up with some compelling made for theater movie. Her goal was to transmit her philosophy via fiction rather than non fiction. Condensing that book down to a 2 hour movie does disservice to the story and virtually ignores the ideology it contains. No one reads AS to be engrossed in some heart-pounding tale of adventure but to be introduced to Rands particular philosophy. It would probably take a 15 part Netflix miniseries to do justice to the message but I dont know that the actual story is strong enough to keep viewers attention. Regardless, if a movie is made I can say without hesitation and without seeing it that the book is better.
I think that a movie would shave down the edges on Rand's philosophy and make it seem more reasonable instead of the "**** you I got mine" worldview that she actually has.

No, he does not.
Yes, he does.

Again, look, I get it. Being a lower tier MAGA, you aren’t going to sweat details, hence your gotchas inevitably become face-plants. It’s happened before for you, it’s happening now and it’ll happen again. It’s just what a @NatMorton argument is at its core. But don’t think of this as an obstacle but as an opportunity. Think of your MAGA as the kind whose face-plants allow the other MAGA to shine more brightly.

I think her worldview is less that than it is "I've earned mine. You go out and earn yours."

Ah yes, personal attacks. The hallmark of a beaten argument.

You have a lovely day, and let me know when you've made the choice to debate things at an adult level.
