yesterday it was, today it isn't...
in the wake of today's bombing, president obama ostensibly can't just wave a confident hand and say the war is over.
if he could he would have wished saddam into the cornfield as a senator and fixed syria today.
joe biden's dream of three iraqs is coming to fruition, and we're apparently buds with the taliban. why would the west point generals know more about war and peace than a community organiser ??
BBC News - At least 63 killed in co-ordinated Baghdad attacks
Troop withdrawal by December 31 of this year was a bilateral agreement signed in 2008. The war is over due to that agreement, not to an Obama fiat.
Of course, if Iraq remains peaceful, then the Republicans will point to that fact as an indication that it was a Republican CIC who brought a successful end to that conflict, while the Democrats will claim it was all Obama. If, on the other hand, Iran invades or the Taliban takes over, then the Republicans will blame Obama, while the Democrats point to the withdrawal agreement of 2008.
But, come what may, the fact is that the withdrawal was already agreed to before Obama became CIC.
Bush offered them democracy and Obama gave them nearly 3 years of his time. They'd rather blow each other up in true tribal form. Iraq is the problem of Iraqis now. Bring our boys and girls home.
Now.
It took some of the smartest men in history 12 years to form a government, that we now call the United States of America.
You really expect these clowns to do it in less time?
But, hey! Am I the only one that isn't surprised that the bad guys went on the down low, until U.S. forces moved out, then decided to get off the hook?
Eh? What's that you say?
Sorry, apdst, I can't hear you over the groaning creaks of the aging American infrastructure, the protesters in the streets and the politicians' advocating austerity measures. You'll have to speak up and make sure your head isn't obstructing any excretory functions before making suggestions on where we should spend billions of dollars.
The average American only gave a **** about Iraq when they believed Bush's lies about them being an eminent threat, but given your history here, I'm sure you'd got a well developed and logically sound case that will sway them to your viewpoint.
What aging infrastructure?
So glad that the Obama Administration failed to negotiate a simple SOFA agreement. well done, Mr Smartest President Ever.
Oh please, are you kidding me? Do a simple google search on "America's aging infrastructure" and you will see that roads, bridges, water/sewer lines, electric grid, etc are all sub par and are in need of repair and upgrade.
How about we fix OUR country before we try nation building ok?
The Iraqis wanted us out. We had no choice.
Yes, because the $50 billion per year wouldn't disappear into the sea of union payola when compared to this current thief -n- chiefs TRILLION plus vomitorium of frivolous spending for the past three years....GAWD you libs are just ridiculous with your knee jerk criticism sometimes.

At the very least maybe Obama could have traded Iraq for our drone in Iran....As it stands now he got nothing....What a superior negotiator...

It's their country. If they want to blow each other up that's their problem.
Arabs for the most part (around 85% of them) are ignorant, completely uneducated. Violence is their way of life. Starting the war was the first mistake, not actually fighting to win was the second mistake. We need to just turn our backs on them and let them duke it out.
Where did I say it would have to go to unions? I simply corrected YOUR error in saying "what aging infrastructure?".
Regardless of how, there is in fact a serious problem with the aging infrastructure we currently have. I'd rather money go to us to fix what we have than to the Iraqis, sorry.
You really can't step back long enough to look at something without a liberal/conservative bias can you?
No, the Iraqis are tired of us, no amount of negotiating (that would have benefited us) would change this. But please, go ahead on your foaming at the mouth Obama rant.
I think that this article is quite relevant (54 Iraqis Die In Not Our Problem Anymore | The Onion - America's Finest News Source)
Oh yeah! People coming in with stereotyping and racism!
Bush offered them democracy and Obama gave them nearly 3 years of his time. They'd rather blow each other up in true tribal form. Iraq is the problem of Iraqis now. Bring our boys and girls home.
Now.
Does it really matter whether the war is over if the battle continues?
There's too much theocratic idealism in Iraq for the separate church and state democracy we installed to hold for long.
We were fairly lucky with the not-so-religious Saddam's iron-fisted stability .. until he aspired to the power of a god.
As long as there are "unaccounted for" old Soviet nukes, and less available light sweet crude than needed, not only in America, but in places like China where so many of our jobs have been off-shored, if there is also just a twinge of theocratic idealism in the region, you'll find our "presence" there, doing whatever we think is necessary ..
.. To protect our world piece ..
.. Of the pie.
We are relying on "the Onion" now? Really.....
