Army Was Reviewing More Than Confederate Base Names, Officials Reveal

Haste makes waste as we see in your posts so I like to take my time to talk about thingys, such as Stonewall Jackson who was deaf. :lamo

Blind in one eye and could hardly see out the other he was.

His sleep disorder that he also had and was well known would likely be diagnosed today as narcolepsy. Kept falling off his horse Jackson did, out like a light.

There were dozens of CSA generals btw, although a whole lot of 'em got killed in action -- an inordinate number of 'em indeed.

Jackson as we know was shot to death by his own troops while doing a night recon in the woods in the rain. With his staff no less. Some historians figure Jackson never heard his staff shout to duck. Yep, all his staff ducked leaving the tall figure of Jackson standing there silhouetted perfectly for the major who was on the front line to plug him. Jackson died a couple of dayze later of what everyone around him said was pneumonia ha. Y'know, the rain and all that bad weather...plus the bullet of course.

Indeed Jackson had a history of being absent when his corps was supposed to be moving forward. Time and again Jackson was found snoozing as the battle raged and his troops sat waiting for their orders as Lee Him Self cursed the heavens. And while Jackson's staff and commanders went furious over the inaction. Hollering at Jackson did no good of course given he was as deaf as, well, a stone wall.

Where did you get that 600,00 figure from?

Were any of them ever convicted?

Holy cow! No. We killed those we could and drove the rest to beg for surrender. We showed mercy to the traitors.

So you support people renouncing their citizenship and taking up arms to kill Americans.

Now I have really heard it all

Why was no one tried for treason?

Why was no one tried for treason?

Under the rubric of 'Reconciliation', President Andrew Johnson pardoned all former Confederates from the crime of treason on Christmas Day, 1868.

I think it's because they would have been acquitted.

I refuse to allow you to answer my question because it terrifies you so much. Lol

Because they knew they would never get a conviction.

Did any of your ancestors fight in the ACW?

Let me answer your question the way you answer mine.

Potato Cadillac surfboard freedom. Lol

Talk about obsessed: Haste makes waste as we also see from your every post and always.

It's almost for sure the two descendants of Stonewall Deaf Jackson would want the base names changed, which is a matter you've lost interest in completely for some time now.

'The time is long overdue': Stonewall Jackson's great-great-grandsons call for statue of their Confederate ancestor to be taken down because it's an 'overt symbol of racism'

Two of Stonewall Jackson's great-great-grandsons called for his statue in Richmond, Virginia to be taken down. William Jackson Christian and Warren Edmund Christian say their ancestor's statue and all other Confederate monuments are symbols of 'white supremacy'. 'The time is long overdue for them to depart from public display,' they said.

Richmond's mayor said that he's assembling a team to consider the 'removal and/or relocation of some or all' of the Confederate statues in the city. Both William and Warren teach writing at universities - William at Westfield State University in Massachusetts and Warren at UNC Chapel Hill. Their great-great-grandfather was nicknamed Stonewall for refusing to move his troops in the First Battle of Bull Run.

Stonewall Jackson kin: Take down Confederate monuments | Daily Mail Online

Jackson being deaf as a stone wall didn't hear the command to move his imperiled troops so Gen. Bee decided on the spot to declare Jackson "Stonewall." Being visually impaired Jackson could not make an accurate visually based assessment of his perilous situation so Gen. Bee went over to move Jackson and his troops which Bee did do before Bee himself was killed by Union fire.

Jackson himself was shot -- in the right hand -- while he held his right arm straight up which he did often, believing his right arm was longer than the other and that the blood in his right arm needed to be moved back down into his body to balance things. So "Stonewall" Jackson was a stable genius nutcase hypo who cost Lee and the Confederate Army more than his successes were worth -- much more.

Indeed CSA had a collection of stable tactical geniuses but were left wanting for simply any kind of strategic competence.

Major John Decatur Barry the much respected officer who gave the command that plugged Jackson simultaneously with three smooth bore bullets died after the war aged 27 of supposed mental and physical collapse: "So you're the guy who shot Jackson." Barry himself suffered three wounds during his credible advance to Brigadier General before he was sent home late in the war due to a severe stomach wound.

It's erasing history. Just call it what it is.

Next y'all are going to demand they change all the unit nicknames like "The Red Devils" because it sounds mean...lol

No, it's not erasing history. It's removing the white wash on top of it.

"600,000 Union KIA's" That's one of the most epic fails in online discussion forum history. :lamo

Haste makes waste which you continue to give us each time.

Lee the career Engineer meanwhile couldn't find his warfighting ass with both hands while blindfolded.

Back then "general officer" was the opposite of the specialist it is today. For the longest time it meant generalist commander, ie, a general could lead infantry one week, lead cavalry the next week, then lead artillery too the week after. Grant to name one was a "general officer" in the classic historical sense.

While Grant graduated WP in Infantry he was a recognized horseman and he showed it most in the Mexican War while Lee was still cutting his teeth trying to figure out which direction to aim his weapons -- we know Lee eventually aimed his weapons north into the Union. Grant in Mexico led several cavalry charges when cavalry commanders were dismounted for injury and whatnot.

While Lee was the model cadet at WP he got the nick "Cadet Marble Model" for absurdly being the only cadet to graduate with zero demerits. Indeed no human goes through four years of anything military without demerits -- much less one day without a demerit. Lee in the civil war also got the nick "Granny Lee" for digging in defensively so much of the time. Of course some of Lee's troops called him "Bobby Lee" to express their misplaced affection of him...I'd suppose if Lee ever heard one of 'em say "Bobby" referring to him he'd have 'em horsewhipped for it like a slave.

What I wanted to say about Lee is that he opposed all statues and memorials of any kind and every kind as he wanted the memory of the war obliterated from daily consciousness throughout the land. Lee did in fact want what you guys knowingly and falsely accuse your political opponents of wanting or attempting that we do not advocate or even consider.

You are not even getting close to accurate on the subject, lee was well recognized during the mexican american war, was also a friend of grant and his superior, and rant got booted out of the army for actions unbecoming of an officer. Had he civil war not broke out calling the union to recall people like grant grant likely would have been an unknown entity.

Lee shown to be a better commander of the battlefield, however the north had better logistics and supplies, grant ended up trying to win wars over battles, he was brilliant enough to know even if lee was a better commander and could make his troops win battles while outnumbered and under supplied, that the overall war favored on supplies, number of men and weapons, and logistics, and that he could take strategic losses if the over all war was won.

Wait, are you trying to being facts up to tangmo. You are waating your time.

The only thing he is concerned about us calling anyone who disagrees with him a Trump rower and tangmobable. Facts or reality play no real part in it.

You either have to laugh at him or feel sorry for him.
