A breast on primetime television.

Yes or No and why.

Depends on whats being done with it........

Halle Berry walking around with her jugs out, not offensive.

Breast reduction surgery special?? Unwarranted, and offensive.

Of course not. There's nothing offensive about a breast. In fact, I rather enjoy looking at them.

And if I were - for some insane reason - I'd just change the channel. *shrug*

No, I would not be offended. Nudity, in any form, is not offensive to me. I would like to also add that I would still let my children watch it too.

No, there are some i would find of puttting but not offended.

one can always change the channel if one is offended by such things

Depends on the context. If I'm sitting around watching what I think is a family show with my kids and it turns into garbage midway through without any warning I'd be annoyed.

Did you get upset by the Superbowl thing with Janet Jackson?

Warn before hand that the show contains mild nudity, that same as they do with violence, so that people have a choice not to watch in case they are offended and their should be no problem.

Hopefully as a nation we get to appoint where the human body is not an offensive object and people will stop associating nudity with sexual activity.

Are you offended now bitches?

Considering all the **** shown in the P&T Bullshit episode on circumcision, a tit aint ****. But then again, thats Showtime.

I'm awaiting the Janet Jackson references.

It's already happened and allowed by a primetime network once that I know of.

Several years back there was made for tv movie adapatiation of the Diary of Ann Frank, at least I think that's what it was, either way I'm positive it was based on a holocaust survival story. At some point while being processed at one of the camps a woman walked across the screen showing everything from the waste up. It came as quite a shock since it was on primetime tv on a public, not cable, channel.

I can't say that fundamentally there is anything wrong with that since it depicted a true event and, I guess, helped express the true feelings of shock and humiliation of what really happend there. There was nothing glorified about it. And that's probably why they allowed it to be shown. It should have had an adult rating though, which I don't think it did.

I do, or would, have a problem with primetime television allowing the glorification of nudity which serves no purpose other than to get a cheap ratings boost because people want to lust after those images, and will consequently watch for those reasons. In other words, throwing in a sex scene with nudity, to me personally any sex scene, because of the higher ratings it will recieve. I greatly disapprove of that.

Nah, cause I don't give a rats a$$ 'bout football but if I did and I were watching it on a weekend afternoon with my kids I would probably have found it distasteful the same way I cringe when commercials come on for weird crap in the middle of the day. I'm all for "change the channel" if you don't like something but I think certain shows on during a certain time and considered "family friendly" should have some responsibility for delivering what's expected. It's not a big deal but I do appreciate if I have the news on or something and they come on and say, "This story may not be suitable for young audiences, " and give a little shout out warning so I can flip the channel if my kids are around. Sex isn't such a big deal and were not a family of prudes but I think my daughter is perhaps too young to constantly be bombarded with images of women who portray walking sex toys. I try to keep her away from crap like that.

Have you seen primetime television lately. I don't think it could get much worse. I could imagine one of those cheesy gameshows but somehow they would throw breasts in. Or CSI : Breast.

Na it isn't offensive to me because it is natural.

See now in a context like that I might not be bothered. I don't care if my kids are watching a special on tribes in Africa or something and there's nudity. I just don't want them exposed to sexually nudity and not because I think there's a problem with it or 'cause I think sexually nudity is bad but because I think the "sex" in the media is often shallow, devoid of substance, ect. There's a huge difference between seeing a romantic scene beautifully done vs. watching a young woman portray herself as nothing more than a moronic blow up doll.

I don't know if I'd call the way women are portrayed in the media as "natural." The majority of women in the media are nothing like the women I know personally.

I'm not sure that is even humanly possible, but then I am coming from the perspective of a male in his early 20s.
The "offensiveness" of the human body is only a factor due to teaching by religion and parents that being naked with any except your significant other is not a good thing.
That is perfectly fine and up to parents to teach to their children as they see fit. If they neglect that duty, TV, peers, observation, and school will be the teachers, and they have no foundation to stand on when they complain that their kids turned out in a way which they dislike.

As a heterosexual human male in his early 20's, I have no problem with seeing breasts on TV. Not that I watch much TV anyway.

Yeah but if you were raising a daughter you'd probably be more concerned. You can attempt to steer your children towards certain beliefs and away from others but ultimately they will be at least somewhat influenced by all that they see in the world that has nothing to do with what you've tried to show them. It's just tiring to hear about all these young actresses who are in rehab because they forgot how to eat, or they're on drugs, and then you have them bouncing around on the TV as if they don't have a brain in their head and their biggest priority in life is looking "hot" and "sexy". Combine that with shows where Drs. give women fake breasts and crap like Top Model, Beauty and the Geek, MTV, ect...

The U.K. has shown things like that for years on there TV and in there newspapers.

Well, I know there are systems out there that limit the channels available by some method or how you set it.
Using such a system would prevent a child from watching a program you didn't want them too. Either way, if you have internet access with no limits, it will be pointless.

Basically what I am trying to say is that parents have a responsibility to protect and teach their children.
I do not agree that doing so involves dictating what TV companies can show. If it were something which did not draw viewers, they most likely wouldn't show it.
If parents want their kids learning about sex from watching porn, they can do so (although I would not think this a good idea).
If parents don't want their kids to know the meaning of the word breast, they can do so (although I would not think this a good idea).
If parents, to prevent their kids from seeing what they consider inappropriate content on TV, limit the TV viewing options to their child and themselves, such would only cause problems to the TV company (through loss of advertising audience), possibly causing a change in programming, or abandonment of a certain segment of their audience.

I can’t positively state that I wouldn’t change my position if I had a child to raise, but it seems to me that it is the parents job to protect their child from whatever they consider dangerous to their efforts to raise the child.

I don't think I even knew what prime time television looked like until I was a teenager. I had more important things to do, like play outside. It's a shame kids today don't really do that anymore. I know it's not really safe like that but it's still kinda sad. We would have so much fun and no one's parents even had to worry.

Yeah that is kind of my point. Television is bad enough, and I don't think nudity would make it anymore psychologically damaging to adults or children.

If you want to protect your children then don't let them watch television.
There are worse things out there than nudity, like stupidity.
