Why not just have it on a Monday? Your average leftoid doesn't work so the event doesn't need to be held on a weekend when people with jobs are trying to do things.

There's one here in The Woodlands tomorrow at 10am, and I would show up just to troll the attendees, but the kids have stuff in the morning and then we have to go to a birthday celebration an hour away in the afternoon.
No one will miss you.

Since this thread has certainly veered toward the shutdown, here is what Thune has to say today.

"I am willing to sit down with Democrats to discuss the growing unaffordability and unsustainability of Obamacare," he wrote on X. "It’s a system they created, but I’m happy to hear them out. Heck, I’m even willing to give them a vote. Today. Tomorrow. Next week. You name it. But there’s one condition: End the Schumer Shutdown. I will not negotiate under hostage conditions, nor will I pay a ransom. Period."
Then maybe Thune should have thought twice about the recissions package.

and there it is, unwilling to participate in the negotiation by demofks yet again. see, they are who they are, my way or the highway, just as the say republicans are, yet it's them who are on the highway.
Describe the recissions package in context of your post.

Why are you for giving it to illegals? Didn’t Ukraine get money? Israel?

Who said anybody is going to give it to undocumented immigrants? Oh , trump said he would give it to a foreign country, and apparently thats fine with you. What's the difference since Argentinians are no more us citizens than undocumented workers. I'm asking you the same question I would ask trump himself. What's so special about Argentina, and what's the difference between Argentinians and undocumented workers? Why would either get $40 Billion.

That's a rhetorical question because there's a real reason.

So the question to you is what's the difference between Argentinians and undocumented workers in the US?

Why are you for giving it to illegals? Didn’t Ukraine get money? Israel?
I'll answer your other questions when you answer mine first.

There is no use having a First Amendment if the people of a country are too afraid to use it. Our forefathers fought The American Revolution so that we did not have to submit to tyranny, but could have freedom of speech and freedom of assembly. We must not be afraid to use the precious legacy we were left: both these rights. We do not have a king. We have a Constitution. We can gather in large numbers and we can voice our dissent about tyranny.

To stop drug cartels and save Americans lives.
If that was it, why isn't there a more subtle way to get to the source? Why would that task necessarily mean that ICE adopts a paramilitary presence? They wouldn't need the NG if ICE was quietly doing a good job of your described "To stop drug cartels and save Americans lives"

Why are you for giving it to illegals?
I'm not aware of anyone suggesting that $40 Billion would be spent on undocumented people. So my question is still being avoided, see below.

Didn’t Ukraine get money? Israel?
Ukraine received as much as $70 Billion. But Argentina hasn't been invaded by a delusional European madman.

I lost track, or never really knew the details, but something tells me I would hate to see as much as a dime going to Israel.

So the question to you is what's the difference between Argentinians and undocumented workers in the US?

How?

The senate could utilize the nuclear option right this second.

The republicans are the ones who are sitting around with their thumbs up their ass and letting the government be closed on their watch.

Not surprising though - the last time the republicans were in charge the same thing happened.

MAGAs can’t govern.

so you WANT the GOP to use nuclear option and bypass the Senate Democrats

do you can point your finger and call King and Fascists and Dictators ?

The Dems want to fund the government, but they want healthcare money restored.
agreed - they hold the Govt funded hostage because of the healthcare money

The Republicans want to fund the government, but they don't want that healthcare money restored.
agree

If you back the Republicans here, it sure seems like you are in favor of millions of Americans losing their health insurance. Can you explain why you want that?

the bolded below seem very reasonable to me - everyone who can work should if not but a few hours a week, do you disagree? Eligibility checks would help eliminate fraud/cheating. Non citizens shouldn't get my tax money in free healthcare. Reduced State funding just means states need to step up.

  • Work requirements:
  • More frequent eligibility checks:
  • Immigration restrictions:
  • Reduced state funding options:
  • There will also be significant changes in the Affordable Care Act (ACA) marketplace. Financial assistance that helps people afford ACA insurance will be allowed to expire at the end of 2025. It is estimated that this change alone will cause an additional 5 million individuals to lose insurance,[4] further exacerbating coverage losses across the health care system.

It was set to expire - Democrats had the last 4 years to extend it and they didn't. I have hated Obamacare all along - it skyrocketed healthcare prices.

Democrats in the senate have said “no”. Repeatedly,

MAGAs can either change what they’re asking for and bring a new CR for a vote or pass the current CR with the nuclear option.

Those are the choices 🤷‍♀️

Does the 2nd Amendment say otherwise? They may need to defend themselves from all the criminals that will be burning the cities down where they protest as cited by Trump. Peaceful protesters still have all their constitutional rights when they peacefully protest. This includes the 2nd amendment.
You wrote: "Peaceful protesters still have all their constitutional rights when they peacefully protest."

Let's apologize in advance in the event a "peaceful protester" somehow gets involved in altercation while carrying a loaded weapon to a peaceful rally.

DD, I think you have "jumped the shark" on this one.

Their rights include the 2nd amendment. They can exercise that right and protest peacefully. Any altercation could lead to any form of violence. Carrying weapons doesn’t cause altercations.

no, there is a 3rd option

keep the Fed Govt shut down and allow Trump the power he's getting - you feel good about that ?

I’m sorry you don’t understand how government works?

Bring in the leopards.

I think Democrats want Trump in control/power with the shutdown so they can call him a fascist and a king and dictator ... and that is their midterm campaign and 2028 master campaign plan

Democrats ... what have they done lately ? protest, shut the Fed Govt down, fight for males in female sports, stand up for a wife beating/human trafficking illegal immigrant ....

MAGAs control the entire federal government.

If you’re asking “what have they done lately” then ask them.

Not democrats. Democrats have no power.

If you want to talk about “wife beating”…ask your POTUS why his ex wives had to sign confidentiality agreements 😂 Well, the alive one.

The dead one is buried in a golf course for a tax deduction. 🤷‍♀️

Regarding the Shutdown, the Democrats have been consistent on what they want. They want to negotiate with the Republicans. They've said that over, and over again. Of course the RW who wouldn't tell the truth if you asked where the Bathroom was, refuses and blames the Democrats for not just rolling over and giving up. My Sergeant used to say the Maximum Effective Range for an excuse was zero. So why aren't you demanding that the Republicans just sit down to discuss the issue with the Democrats? Because you would rather let people die from lack of medical care than give up a buck and a quarter in taxes every year.

Protest? I haven't been in Civics Class for a long time. Can you tell me what part of the Constitution has something about Peaceably Assemble? Is it in the Second Amendment? Our Founders intended for people to be able to communicate with their government in this manner. Why do you hate the founders so much that you denigrate such things? Wasn't Trump awesome because he got big crowds to show up to hear him speak?

As for what we are arguing and even fighting for rhetorically speaking. The rights of the people. Unlike Republicans, we aren't a bunch of greedy and selfish people. We care about our fellow citizens and we care about the Constitution. I know you all hate the Constitution, especially those limits on the power of the Government to enforce your ideals of right and wrong on the people. But we love those freedoms.

agreed - they hold the Govt funded hostage because of the healthcare money

I could say the same thing about the Republicans - they are holding the Govt. hostage because they want to take healthcare away from millions of Americans. Which is waaaay harder to justify.

the bolded below seem very reasonable to me - everyone who can work should if not but a few hours a week, do you disagree? Eligibility checks would help eliminate fraud/cheating. Non citizens shouldn't get my tax money in free healthcare. Reduced State funding just means states need to step up.

All designed to sound OK, but in practice it just leaves millions without healthcare insurance. Republicans are addressing nonexistent problems; fraud is not the problem you think it is, illegal aliens are already shut out of benefits, and states are already hurting for money, unlike the Feds.

Health insurance inflation has been a problem for most of my lifetime. If you think that Obamacare is the cause of rising premiums, you haven't been paying attention. Not extending the subsidies isn't going to cure that, it will just make health insurance unaffordable for millions, and that is 100% on the Republicans. The BBB passed, but not because it was a good bill (it wasn't) or because it was popular (it wasn't), and not because Republican congressmen were for it (lots of them hated it), but because of political pressure applied to Republican congressmen.

Add that to the giant cuts in Medicaid, which are already causing clinics and hospitals to close, and you have a looming disaster.

No matter how you or the Republican Party couches it, millions of Americans are going to lose their healthcare coverage, because that's exactly what trump wants. It's a simple, binary choice here - fund healthcare, or don't. The money is there. It's just another dick move by Republicans, for no valid purpose.

There is an argument to be made for letting the Repubs have their way. The loss of subsidies, Snap, and the changes to medicaid (of course timed to occur after the midterms) will be a big blow -largely to Republican voters . Might be a wake-up call? I am sure Fox propaganda will spin it as all the fault of dems, though.

Its bizarre that so many voters confused Trump w Bernie Sanders.
