One has to sit back and put that into some global perspective. There are few places on the planet where "the poor" live as well as "the poor" in the US do.

Half the world's richest 1% live in the United States - Jan. 4, 2012

Undoubtedly, yes. Is that our goal here? To downgrade our middle class and poor to third world levels and tell them hey, could be worse as the donor class continues to redistribute societal wealth? Not going to be able to sell that forever to folks who can't afford healthcare or to educate their children. But I guess that's what militarized police depts and corporate for profit prisons are for.

Bwa ha ha ha, that's all ya got? It's a chat board. Ya got stumped.

No responsibility to anyone or anything but yourself. That's american style capitalism, it's all about me, **** the nation, **** society, **** my ancestors, **** my decendents, **** the past, **** the future, I'm wringing whatever I can get out of this and I have no connection to humanity whatsoever.

This posts sounds like a complaint from someone who is upset they haven't done better in our system.

Same old story-you try to prove-with evidence that is not relevant-that socialism and income redistribution is "good". You ignore the rights of someone who earned money by pretending their rights to their own property shouldn't figure into your communitarian calculations. Its the typical leftwing attitude that since you pretend you know what is better for others, the views of others as to their own property should be ignored

We've had wealth redistribution for a half century now in this society, just no in the direction everyone is always blathering on about, and yeah, it's been horrible for society as a whole.

we spend too much on the military but we also spend WAY too much on things the federal government was never properly empowered to spend on-like massive handouts that are designed to create a permanent class of people dependent on the government masters who feed them

and that distribution has not made those people independent and able to operate on their own.

I'm good thanks, typical evasion, look around at your society. Half the population makes less than $30K a year. Fine with me, let's let this play out in an economic system based upon mass consumption. Since the political system serves only the donor class and is going to do nothing but ignore the issue, i'm all for letting it play out. Gonna get bumpy, be sure to strap in.

Agreed, Wall Street, the donor class, the "job creator" class, big pharma, big oil/gas, big agribusiness and the like are all still dependent upon govt handouts.

Like Wall Street for example. Yeah so go after the military, can't, can ya.

U.S. Defense Spending Compared to Other Countries

There is a huge part of why we cannot invest in society.

No, bad family planning laws have accentuated this problem. People who want to make birth control and abortion as difficult as possible for women are often the very same ones who could care less about the well-being of babies once they are born.

I sort of agree with that and I oppose those who want to ban or restrict abortion or birth control

"To give you a sense of the magnitude, men in the bottom 1 percent have life expectancy comparable to the average life expectancy in Pakistan or Sudan."

with global economic markets and skilled labor that is willing to work farm more than US workers-what is your solution?

you'll be hard pressed to find me supporting that either

Bull**** sir, bull****. That's as bogus as saying you don't whine to the mods about me.

care to do something you almost never do? Prove both of those statements

We go abroad to be free to exploit labor, we refuse to invest in america, patriotism is for the underclass.

Suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuure mac, sure, the govt does nothing for the investor class do they.

more dishonesty, my comment never said anything about the government other than I am not dependent on it
