Will Republicans remove Fani Willis?

Their committee on local DA’s begins hearing complaints on 10/1.

Originally the intent was to discipline prosecutors that were not enforcing the law. But, some Republicans intend to use the law to remove Willis for enforcing the law.

Do you think they will?

I'm giving most of them the benefit of the doubt. Maybe they'll realize just how bad of a look it is?

Correct me if I’m wrong..
It’s not up to most of them. I think it’s a body of hand picked uber partisans that makes the decision.

You could be right - I don't know how many will be deciding.

Since crime in Atlanta has skyrocketed since Willis became DA, they have plenty of justification for removing her for not enforcing the law.

But...will they? I doubt it. They risk being charged with obstruction of justice.

Isn't lawfare great? LOL!!

Interesting that Kemp hasn't made an appointment yet.

I need to see undeniable proof Fani Willis broke any laws to change my mind that this is nothing but worshiping Trump the Terrorist and hating Democrats. All of these Republicans already knew what Willis did was not politically motivated and just want to throw out the case against their fake god by replacing her with an elephant. Republicans always complain about Democrats having political motivation because that is their sin and they don't want to confess it.

So why haven’t they done it before?

Why did they wait until now?

They won't get the chance. After the first hearing the FBI will be on them like white on rice and Garland will see them up on treason charges. They'll likely be the first traitors to be walked to the wall and shot in over 200 years.

I was hoping they would just get the reeducation camps

Plus, the law is being challenged in court, and those challenging want the judge to block the law until the case has run its course.

Explain the connection between a state DA and "enforcing the law"? I don't believe that DA's finance or recruit the police, nor set the laws for the state? Do they maybe instruct the police on how to do their jobs? Are they responsible for police training? I don't think they do any of that. What they do is prosecute the criminals that the police catch under the laws the state congress create, and with the funding/resourcing etc that the congress/counties etc provide.
So, is the charge that Willis is failing to enforce the laws, or that she is too lenient in her prosecutions? Couldn't find the 2022 data, but Georgia state data for 2021 (Willis's first year) seems to show that reported incidents are well down on the 2017 to 2019 levels, but a little up on the covid impacted 2020 level. In fact, the Georgia crime index in 2021 was the lowest in over 40 years excepting 2020.

my understanding is they don't have the votes to do it, even if they wanted to. Also, some Republicans have already told the asshat bellowing about this to take a seat and shut his mouth.

We can only hope so.

Ummm...just so you know who, exactly, we are talking about:

Fani Taifa Willis[2] (/fɑːniː/, FAH-nee;[2] born 1971[1]) is the district attorney of Fulton County, Georgia, which contains most of Atlanta.

And just so you know what is going on in Fulton County:

Crime Grade's violent crime map shows areas where violent crime per person is highest, weighted by the type and severity of the crime. The D- grade means the rate of violent crime is much higher than the average US county. Fulton County is in the 12th percentile for safety, meaning 88% of counties are safer and 12% of counties are more dangerous.

The rate of violent crime in Fulton County is 5.140 per 1,000 residents during a standard year. People who live in Fulton County generally consider the northeast part of the county to be the safest for this type of crime.

Your chance of being a victim of violent crime in Fulton County may be as high as 1 in 82 in the southeast neighborhoods, or as low as 1 in 452 in the northeast part of the county. See the section on interpreting the violent crime map, however, because comparing rates for violent crime or any other crime is not as intuitive as it may seem.

Couldn't find much recent useful Fulton county data publicly available. But the data for Atlanta below looks like they are dealing with a rise in violent crime that started in 2016, while crime in wider Georgia was dropping at the same time. Be interesting to work out what started that trend and how much it has changed in 2021/22/23 (can't find that data)
