Anyone over fifty, can you ever recall a time in your life where shootings were so common?

When America admits that the largest portion of gun crimes is black on black crime we can begin to make some headway in the actual numbers.
 
I'm 100, live in Canada, and never been shot at, never seen a shooting, never had my kids go to a school with armed guards, never worried about walking in a "black" neighborhood.

So damn nice not living in the US of A.

The dead are just as dead. If anything, such a tremendous amount of accidental death, shows that motor vehicles are more hazardous than guns.

Nobody was able to stop anything on January 6, 2021. The election had already been decided December 14, 2020, and absolutely nothing - not Congress, not the President, not the VP, and not the rioters - could change that fact. Biden was the legitimately elected President and would be sworn in on January 20, 2021 regardless of the fiction leftist filth wanted to play.

First, I have never before had at my disposal so many sources of news and information as I do today.

Second, I have never before lived in a country with such a large population.

Then you have the leftist filth infiltrating the FBI and attempting to stage a coup to oust a legitimately elected President. Let's not forget all those decades the insane leftist J. Edgar Hoover was director of the extremely criminal FBI.

So, yes, law enforcement can indeed be infiltrated with leftist filth. We see it all the time.

Premeditated murder on the part of the police. Was the group 'move' an irritant to the city, yes, most assuredly, however there was no need to set their place on fire and end up killing so many of them. They could have been arrested peacefully whenever they came out of their house for years but instead violence was chosen to 'solve' the problem.

OK 1980s and 90s then. Actually crime increased from the post war period thru the 90s. So it was pretty bad in the 70s too. Much worse than today
 
Craig's second chart is misleading. The total number of murders in 2021 was the highest ever in U.S. history. Per 100,000 people, 1974 was the worst year.
 
I think it's more a media hype problem than anything else.

I think a great deal has to do with the level of self restraint previous generations were raised with and this lacking in the present population.
Also, more people, more likelihood.
 
I believe that social media has much to do with the increase of hate & violence. The young ones carry out the violence while the older crowd perpetuate it through their rhetoric and cloaked hate. Some people hang out in some pretty dark places online and they get caught up in the madness. Many feel like they are victims of some perceived injustice and want retribution....................and get egged on by their peers.

The online older crowd piss me off the most. Much like a particular so called Conservative forum that a lot of our ex (booted) DP members hang out on now. They come just short of celebrating the possible oncoming culture wars and violence. These people are not conservatives at all in a true sense of the word. They are hate filled, angry, and petty. They make conservative leaning folks myself go WTF?

Then there are a few Prog/Lib/Dem/Soc/Com forums that will make your head spin with all their hate and rhetoric. I used to browse them once in a while but haven't in quite some time.

Crime in big cities is always going to happen. I grew up in a big northeastern city.
