New York (CNN) -- At least 10 death threats have been leveled against members of Congress since the health care vote. Windows at four district offices or county party headquarters have been shattered with bricks.

A gas line was severed at the home of the brother of one Democratic congressman from Virginia, and a man was arrested for making death threats against Republican Minority Whip Eric Cantor and his family.

And Monday, nine members of a Michigan-based anti-government militia group called the Hutaree were charged with conspiring to kill law enforcement officers.

These incidents may be following the drumbeat of incitement offered by a new breed of anti-government paramilitary organizations that have proliferated during the Obama presidency. Their members are self-styled patriots, armed and ready for a new American Revolution. They warn of martial law, seizure of guns, and imposition of global government, complete with forced internment camps and mass executions.

Anti-government hate militias on the rise - CNN.com

Interesting article. I just really wonder how these people somehow believe that there will be forced internment camps and mass executions. Lifes just too damn short to have this much fear, because there is nothing to fear like this. I hope when they're 90 and can't hold their rifles anymore, they will see that they spent their entire lives fearing something they shouldn't have.

The Government cannot balance the budget. The Government cannot provide jobs. The Government passes legislation that a good 50% of the country does not agree with. The Government has become synonymous with scandalous behavior. The Government makes enemies with entertainment news media.

This is the normal order of operations. Anti-Government groups arise when the Government falls out of favor with the people. Once the economy bounces back up those who swell the ranks of these militias will find a good job at Wal-Mart.

About god damned time! People have been putting off their duty to the Republic for far too long.

50% is not some super majority that you are ignoring. Many polls have Americans split so closely that it falls within the margin of error (usually considered a statistically equal split).

They're not rising in significant proportions, and the media is having a field day focusing on the few incidents that have happened. I'll wait until things heat up a lot more before I am concerned.

I never said it was a super majority. But to alienate 50% +/- a margin of error of 3% (at a 95% lvl of Confidence) is still cutting right through the extreme "against government" minority and right into the moderates in America.

Didnt we see this same tired bull**** with Clinton? As soon as there were things that they wanted to distract the public from we suddenly had the Michigan Militia as a threat to the security of the US, the Branch Davidians and that freqin disaster, etc. Now, the democrats passed a massively unpopular piece of legislation and suddenly the first thing they claim is that there are all these terror threats against democrats and raids on these very 'dangerous' militias.

Just curious...when is the federal government going to crack down on THESE militias...

The duty to threaten violence against democratically elected officials you personally disagree with? Is that really what we've come to?

Maybe you'd be more at home in some third world country where that sort of thing happens more. Don't like someone? Just shoot em!

Are you insinuating that all militias in the US threaten violence against democratically elected officials? Please clarify your statement.

Not all, no. Some, certainly. Unless the guy I quoted was referring to a patriotic duty to join a militia and... not do anything?

That's fundamentally one of the points of the militia. That doesn't mean they go around shooting at people or throwing bricks through windows. But revolution is a tool reserved by the People in case the government ever grows so far out of control of the People and acts against our rights and liberties.

Funny how they don't chase down and incarcerate terrorist groups(In America) who are plotting the demise of America.

Pretty words used to justify intimidation and subversion of the democratic process.

What, you think the FBI has this list of known, confirmed terrorists and their exact location but just doesn't bother to go arrest them?

In a general sense, yeah.

It is duty and responsibility to the Republic and the rights and liberties of the individual. The right to revolt against unjust government is reserved by the People and is an essential tool of the people to curb government tyranny and treason.

These militias don't represent the people, at all.

I didn't specify these militia. The serious post I gave was response to militia in general.

Scarism and hysteria.

So, a few years ago maybe those involved with some anti-gov group numbered 0.001% of the population, and now maybe they number 0.0015%.

Yawn.

Except the problem is you're defining "unjust" in an entirely subjective manner.
