A surprising shift is underway at the bottom of the world. After decades of contributing to rising sea levels, Antarctica’s massive ice sheet has started growing again — at least for now.

A study published this week in Science China Earth Sciences finds that the Antarctic Ice Sheet (AIS) experienced a record-breaking mass gain between 2021 and 2023, largely due to anomalous increases in precipitation. The rebound is especially significant in East Antarctica, where four major glacier basins had previously shown signs of destabilization.

Interesting, but I'm not sure how this is possible considering what Al Gore and other climate alarmist have been telling us. The climate is historically cyclic.

Tongji University researchers say satellite gravimetry data shows that from 2011 to 2020, the Antarctic Ice Sheet lost 142 gigatons of ice per year.

That trend flipped between 2021 and 2023 when the ice sheet allegedly gained about 108 gigatons of ice per year.

Most of the gains are in East Antarctica. Scientists say much of the gains are linked to precipitation patterns, which could be temporary.

Antarctica is the driest continent...the Antarctic Desert is nearly 50% larger than the Sahara Desert. When it gets any precipitation at all, that can give the planet a respite from the melting glaciers. The main thing that causes glaciers to recede over time isn't the summer melt, it's the failure to freeze as much during the winter.

Biden sure did a great job, didn't he.....

What would Al Gore say about this? Would he fly in his own plane spewing more CO2 to see it for himself?
Thank you Gore and Biden... Nice of you giving them credit.. Careful though.. Stay safe, and away from 7th story windows in Russia... Lol

Climate change caused more precipitation where it usually didn’t reach. That much can be gathered from the headline.

The coral is still dying.

And when it’s gone, we are ****ed.

Precipitation patterns.

Storms are bigger and more frequent.

So there was some flooding on the ice sheets.

For all we know this was the mechanism that corrected earlier warming periods. Some of which would have rendered us extinct, by the way.

Why are the Chinese suddenly credible?

They’re gonna kick you out of MAGA!

Well, it is nice when you reveal that you have not even read your source article right up front. The explains how it is possible.

The gains were linked to unusual precipitation patterns, which may be temporary.

Further, the source explains that there is still a net loss of ice in Antarctica(for the 10 years previous, loses of 142 Gigatons a year, for the last 3, gains of 108 Gigatons per year).

Further, 2 things to note are that Al Gore is irrelevant to climate science(he has no degree or expertise in the topic), "climate alarmists" are people who can actually read data, which clearly shows that the climate is getting hotter(there is no actual debate on that), and just because the climate is cyclical does not mean that man made causes are not affecting it. This is in fact an extra worry since if man made causes are increasing the temperate at the same time as we are entering a hot spell, that is a kinda double wammy kinda thing.

Let's put it this way.

If over the last 20 years you've lost $5m and this year you make $350k will you be chearing for that?

But then Gore is bat shit crazy, as are most in the man-made climate change cult. They need to relax. Climate change is a natural occurrence and rather than shitting bricks, we just need to adapt.

Yet global warming is making weather events more frequent.....and more intense.

But, hey, WE will be okay. And who gives a shit about how our descendants fare?

Well this is embarrassing for alarmists ... What does Al "The ice caps will be gone in four years" Gore say ?
