ANSWERS TO ATHEIST NONSENSE

That wasn't an arbitrary definition it was a cut and paste definition. The aspect of theism I give evidence of (not prove) is the belief we owe our existence to a Creator that intentionally caused the universe to exist.

That is not philosophical theism.

I didn't say it was. You have to follow the whole thread. There is theism then there is philosophical theism. I subscribe to the latter. However I'm rather eclectic and get meaning and value from a lot of sources.

Philosophical theism is the belief that the Supreme Being exists independent of the teaching or revelation of any particular religion. It represents belief in God entirely without doctrine, except for that which can be discerned by reason and the contemplation of natural laws. Wikipedia

If I continue to tutor you like this I'm going to have to send you a bill.

That we're here due to happenstance is more awe inspiring to me than the notion that we were created by a being with unfathomable power. It's perplexing that theists need a creator to feel special and loved. I wonder if they would still retain their faith if (1) their god did not promise them eternal life.
It speaks to weakness.

There word games that don't amount to a hill of beans.

Theism
belief in the existence of a god or gods, especially belief in one god as creator of the universe, intervening in it and sustaining a personal relation to his creatures.
And what a crock that is.

As I have explained to you over and over, your here because of luck.

The seven mile wide asteroid that hit Earth 66 million years ago wiped out the dinosaurs and gave rise to mammals.

Up until that point evolution wasn't towards more intelligence it was all about size, big teeth and biological weapons.

Dinosaurs ruled for 200 million plus years, it took a bad luck extinction event to bring them down

So if that fluke event hadn't occurred, you would not be here and some derivative of the dinosaurs would.

There is no way you can BS your way out of this scientific truth.

Humanism has the answers. Humans must find their own way in the world without appealing to the intervention of an imaginary entity.

If you do, then you don’t see god as a creator. So you can’t pick beliefs outside of that and still claim to be a philosophical theist.

I’ll take a full refund please.

I don’t know if humanism has the answers, but at least it asks the right questions. That is the important thing. We shouldn’t be looking to imaginary beings to provide meaning and purpose and value to our lives. We have to do it for ourselves.

Lol - he simply explained to you what philosophical theism is!

You, yourself has indicated that there is a difference!

You keep flip-flopping all over the place, like as if no one can see thru that. 😁

I have not been flip-flopping, he has. He thinks he can be a philosophical theist and also believe in a particular creator god with a particular purpose. That is straying into religious belief.

And you keep making negative remarks on a personal basis towards other chatters instead of staying on topic, per se. Everyone can see through that.

Yes I can. It's in the mail.

One that seems to like pain, misery and death a bit too much for my liking. Oh, I forgot, it's our own fault. 😏

You are spot on about the conundrum the universe and more specifically our existence presents. Regardless of opinion the most basic philosophical question we can ask is why are we here? Why is there something rather than nothing? Why did the conditions for our existence occur? Some just as soon we not ask such questions but its exactly why scientists have been studying the universe is an attempt to explain exactly those questions.
I can assure you of one thing, our sun and the stars don't revolve around earth or us.

Our ancestors especially those close to religion refused to believe we humans weren't the center of the universe

Some of what you say echoes, mimics, hearkens back to the ancients preposterous claim of our importance in the universe.

Over the course of a lifetime a woman's ovaries will release about 500 eggs, your lucky to be here.

Get over yourself.
