yeah,The false dilemma fallacy is never a good way to try to prove a point. There is a lot of gray area between black or white.
Do you really think these are protests against american culture? That's half of the answer. Is the other half of it that, "I burn this flag because I don't like the culture I chose to live in."?
Of course there is. Does your comment imply that the flag of the place one doesn't want to be represents a more brutal country than the place one is in?The false dilemma fallacy is never a good way to try to prove a point. There is a lot of gray area between black or white.
Why are you assuming it’s not Americans burning their own flag in protest of their government? Why do people burn the flag of the nation that they have left everything to be part of, yet parade and wave the flag of the country that they are resisting going back to?
You're mistaken. The apparent conflict arose as I watched one flag being burned in the L.A. riot, and another being waved. I don't understand the mind of someone who would do both in a country they gave up so much to be in.yeah,
the OP is only showing off the chip on his shoulder
the selective framing shows that even though the author is ostensibly just asking a question,
the author is not actually looking for info,
just to complain

I assumed it was not Americans because the other flag was being celebrated in the same event. Perhaps my assumption was wrong. Why are you assuming it’s not Americans burning their own flag in protest of their government?
As for why they fly other countries’ flags, maybe it’s because there isn’t a flag for immigrants?
Why, as an American(?), are you offended by this exercise of the freedom of speech and protest, a fundamental constitutional right?
That's half of the answer. Is the other half of it that, "I burn this flag because I don't like the culture I chose to live in."?
No. Not even close.Of course there is. Does your comment imply that the flag of the place one doesn't want to be represents a more brutal country than the place one is in?
When your country acts like an asshole burning the flag is a way to show your disapprovalWhy do people burn the flag of the nation that they have left everything to be part of, yet parade and wave the flag of the country that they are resisting going back to?
It doesn't work. It just makes me want to kick them out more. When your country acts like an asshole burning the flag is a way to show your disapproval
Then if the question is brutality, do the people who wave one flag and burn the other choose to live under worse brutality? No. Not even close.
Yes, we see a lot of that on ethnic holidays, such as St. Patrick's Day. But we don't see people at those same events burning the flag of this countryAs to the Mexican flag why not? You don't believe someone can live here, love this country, and still also love their homeland?
Yeah but we aren't rounding up Irishmen in tje dead of night, denying them due process etc. Nor has the military ever been called in that I remember to protect cops riding shotgun on the St Pat's parade in NYC. Kind of a different set of circumstances.Yes, we see a lot of that on ethnic holidays, such as St. Patrick's Day. But we don't see people at those same events burning the flag of this country
I'm not one to burn our flag but it is protected speech. It doesn't work. It just makes me want to kick them out more.
This is a good point. I don't like some of the things our leaders do even Donald Trump I didn't like some of the things to Biden dead or Trump the first time or Barack Obama I never felt compelled to burn the flag. Then if the question is brutality, do the people who wave one flag and burn the other choose to live under worse brutality?
Some of our Vietnam Vets burned our flag. Why do people burn the flag of the nation that they have left everything to be part of, yet parade and wave the flag of the country that they are resisting going back to?
Well I'm not saying it's criminal.I'm not one to burn our flag but it is protected speech.
Why? The flag represents the citizens not the government. Some of our Vietnam Vets burned our flag.
That's even more bizarre. Burning a flag is a statement. Making a statement that no one will hear is odd.My guess is some of our ex slaves also burned our flag in private.
Nor are we doing that to other nationalities. Of about 200 people arrested by ICE in L.A. almost all had criminal records, had final orders of removal or had returned to this country after having been deported once. They've had their due process.Yeah but we aren't rounding up Irishmen in tje dead of night, denying them due process etc.
The National Guard was called in because the LAPD refused to act in the face of attacks on federal facilities.Nor has the military ever been called in that I remember to protect cops riding shotgun
VietNam vets were not people who came to this country voluntarily in preference to a home country. Some of our Vietnam Vets burned our flag
And yet some of them still burned our flag.VietNam vets were not people who came to this country voluntarily in preference to a home country.
Can you actually provide evidence of your first contention? Or is it just what you heard on the news? The LAPD's press release this morning noted 42 arrests with no information whatsoever on previous criminal activity so I'm guessing your information is incorrect.Nor are we doing that to other nationalities. Of about 200 people arrested by ICE in L.A. almost all had criminal records, had final orders of removal or had returned to this country after having been deported once. They've had their due process.

Probably because the know it annoys the hell out of some people they are trying to annoy....Why do people burn the flag of the nation that they have left everything to be part of, yet parade and wave the flag of the country that they are resisting going back to?
