Right, because that's the spin that fits your agenda. The truth, however, is that everyone in Utah can carry on school grounds if they have a valid carry permit. So over the last 13 years all these parents, bus drivers, teachers, visitors, cops, etc, have been in and out of Utah schools...and this is the first incident.

At last here the guilty party is the only party injured, unlike Sandy Hook or Columbine.

If the choice is between risking a shot to my own foot or leg, or being defenseless in a mass-shooter situation, I'm risking my foot or leg every time.

There's stupid on both sides. Yesterday:
From the Times, Indiana University Southeast students on Thursday were told to stay inside and lock their doors over what turned out to be a man carrying an umbrella.

“IU Southeast Emergency! An armed person is on campus. Go into nearest room and lock door. Follow instructions from authorities,” the university’s official Twitter account tweeted Thursday afternoon.

The school said police were searching for a white male, approximately 5’ 10”, wearing light colored shorts and a camouflage backpack.

We had a guy at our local Home Depot a few years back who had his pistol go off in the restroom.

So I think the problem is clearly evident. People are having a hard time taking a dump without dumping a round.

Maybe Turtle can answer this but in all the gun clases he has attended did they ever address dropping your pants and pinching a loaf?

That's what I was asking about earlier regarding a suggestion the teacher needed more range time. Do ranges even address dropping trow?

Not more range time, but perhaps the academic part of the training should expand on the pros and cons of different holsters. For example, how would this gun go off when in the bathroom:

3 students hurt when cop's gun discharges at school safety demo

Three students were injured Wednesday morning after the "accidental discharge" of a police weapon during a safety presentation at a Chino elementary school, police said.
The students -- whose ages were not immediately known -- suffered what were believed to be minor injuries and were taken to an area hospital as a precaution, said Tamrin Olden, crime prevention supervisor for the Chino Police Department. Additional information about their injuries were not immediately known.
"We're still sorting out the extent of the injuries and how it happened," Olden said.
Olden said the incident occurred about 11:15 a.m. during a "Red Ribbon Week" safety presentation at Newman Elementary School.
Calls to a district spokeswoman were not immediately returned. The school referred questions to Chino police.

Lessons learned? Some people need to learn more about safely handling firearms...but that accidental discharges are not uncommon. The other thing that is...well..not necessarily a 'lesson learned' but an absolutely is that Calamity will scour the interwebz for stories to exploit. With any luck, there will be a school shooting soon (of course...one involving little white chirruns) for him to exploit before Christmas. that would be the best Christmas present EVER.

(And please lord ensure the victims are little white chirruns and the shooter is an eeeeevil white male, cuz if it is a black child killed by a black person, we all KNOW that wont get any play)
