And the "Wouldn't Last Five Minutes in The Purge" award goes to...

Oh, by the way, we all missed the best part of this story: the woman knew where the hospital was. It can't be said she wasn't goading him, because she knew where her destination was. Know how I know this? Because she had a smart phone. The same one she used to order the uber in the first place, and which she was in the process of using to film the apoplectic driver. It's called Apple or google maps, and if they had not been near their destination, she wouldn't have said "Where's my destination," but "Hey dumbass, the hospital is two blocks north of where we are. Drive me there and I'll get out of your damn car."

I don't understand why all Uber drivers wouldn't anyway. Bunch of wackos out there.

Well, most people have security because a first incident prodded them to. I'm going to guess that this was the driver's first incident.

She started recording when the diplomatic nature of their business arrangement had completed the full course of its deterioration. At that point you just leave the dude's car. If you're the passenger and think he's in the wrong, fine, file a complaint. But get out of his car.

Yup, that's it in a nutshell. File a complaint, do whatever works for you. But get the hell out of his car. Period.

Actually, no. The bitch was being notoriously obtuse to the point of maddening condescension/obstinacy as the man clearly demonstrates, but he still had the good judgement of not using any measure of physical force, lest he be accused of assault. Considering how obstinate she was, I'm inclined to believe she was wishing for him to use force for God knows why.

Absolutely - I think I would have remained calm, driven to the closest police car, gotten out and gone inside and requested that an officer physically remove this human being (and I use those last two words loosely). She was absolutely trying to incite violence to get something free. I feel bad that he was so upset - the best thing he could have done is played her little game and remained calm and gotten even by being the bigger person and making her have to deal with a way home.

Taking somebody on a ride against their will is against the law, I'm pretty sure. I don't know why he didn't drive her around to the ER entrance. Maybe he just wanted her out of his car as he had fulfilled his end of the arrangement by bringing her to the hospital.

After this incident the driver will probably make arrangements to have a camera installed.

See I get the idea that a lot of things transpired with regards to her attitude prior to her video tapping. She was pushing him into doing something probably so she could sue. I don't think it would have stopped if he went around the corner. Instead, I think he should have gotten out of the car and turned the engine off and closed the door - leaving it unlocked and maybe open her door gently. If it is hot there like it is where I'm at, I think she might have gotten out sooner rather than later.

Keep in mind that if she doesn't want to leave, he can't put his hands on her to make her. You might get a sympathetic judge who makes the decision that she was effectively trespassing at that point, but is that a gamble anybody wants to take?

Much easier to just call the cops.

And yes, I absolutely believe she was goading him into a really bad decision so she could sue.

This is one of those situations where the woman was trolling hardcore. It's one of those, man she'd be better off if she was just shot and killed. She was practically begging him to drive into the emergency room lobby and that's not something he's going to do. Furthermore Uber drivers have the right to end the ride at any time for any reason, so she's lucky she didn't pull this stunt in the middle of nowhere.

Was the driver in control of his temper? No. But the woman was obviously the antagonist here. You can tell because of the selective video editing.

You can tell because she already knew exactly where she was. She was just tormenting the guy.

she was exceptional at goading him...exceptional at reading just how far he had escalated and quick to pick up on repetition being her "key"

he did indeed win

sometimes the one who presents as the craziest is in fact not

Some people have a latent but exceptional penchant for manipulation. As I watched the man's reaction and her pretension of civility and calmness, I thought to myself "this woman is torturing the man and she knows it; this woman has some of the psychopathic in her".

Re: And the "Wouldn't Last Five Minutes in The Purge" award goes to...

Wow. Someone doesn't feel comfortable with a woman of color in his car.

(Yes, I feel pretty sure that's a black woman.)

Well... She's certainly got the bad attitude and lack of social sense (particularly when it comes to interpersonal conflict) to go along with the stereotype.

Not really sure I'd be trying to paint those as being "positives," however.

Justifiable homicide? You be the judge.

While you're watching this, try to keep in mind that the woman recorded this video. And posted it herself. Of her own accord.

Ma'am, get out of the car.

The miserable *****! So blatantly trying to generate an incident. (And of course, he absolutely does has the right to scream at her. Well, ok, First Amendment right. I don't know what Uber requires drivers to agree to on that front).

He should've just stepped out and call the cops.

Exactly. She's firmly in control of the situation. She knows he can't lay a finger on her, to FORCE her out of the car, without being arrested, so she's taking full advantage of that to rile him up for her own amusement.

It's really too bad. What people like that (male or female alike) really need is a good bit of physical violence to teach them some manners, imo. Pain is the only thing they seem to understand.

It seems like they were both going at it, but with completely different personalities.

And we have no idea of what occurred prior, but I suspect it wasn't good.

However, it's the driver's responsibility to the provide proper safety and decorum for him and his passengers at all times; at this, he utterly fails! :doh

I drove a cab between semesters during college, and I was half this man's age. There's ways to handle difficult and unruly passengers. This was not the way.

I think the best approach would have been to announce that he's calling the police, step out of the car, and do just that. He was already angry when she started filming, so I think it's virtually certain she had been doing this for a long time. The profound obtuseness and delivery of her lines indicates to me this was passive-aggressive trolling. Further, how's he supposed to know where a particular building at the address is anyway? She cannot possibly believe that he knows but doesn't want to tell her.

Then, fact that she started filming at the point that he got (or that I should say, she succeeded in making) him extremely angry and kept up the trolling suggests to me she was trying to provoke him into violence, which she could then use to sue Uber, sue him, get him arrested, etc.

The guy may need anger management control....but man, that woman is awful.

Seriously...you're at your destination. Ask staff.

I will say this, however: at least she did it in public. Most people like her run to a keyboard to do it online and anonymously....

He announced he was calling 911. She responded, "Do it! Do it!"

Yea, an open hand slap would've put some humanity into her.

I listened to the whole thing, but I responded to the post at around 2:00 or something. When I hit "post", the video stopped. I think I might have just barely missed that bit when I went back and started playing the video again.

Either way, I would have done that right at the beginning - before the taping - if she refused to leave the car.

And some fat cash in her wallet.

Or, at the very least, compelled her to retreat.

Of course impunity is a given requirement in that scenario. I'm glad the man didn't use physical force of any sort. At the end of the day, and judging from this topic, the vast majority of people must be sympathizing with him and condemning her, which is excellent.

Re: And the "Wouldn't Last Five Minutes in The Purge" award goes to

For anybody seriously entertaining the notion that the driver should have put his hands on her, consider this incident in which an uber driver does precisely that.

Alleged manhandling of Uber passenger caught on video | Toronto & GTA | News | T

We can't see from the video who created or escalated the situation to begin with, but we do see the driver pulling the passenger the hell out of that car. He's facing two assault charges, and though the article doesn't come right out and say if he was fired from Uber, Uber Canada's spokesperson said his actions were unacceptable, so it's probably safe to say he was job hunting after that.

She appears to be suffering from mental illness, hence the reason she wanted to go to the hospital.
Yeah the guy was yelling and swearing but we dont know what kind of BS was going on before and she had no reason to stay in the car.
The guy never touched her or did anything that was illegal
When she said he didn't have the right to yell at her, she proved she was a complete moron.
Of course he can yell at her, not necessarily a nice thing to do but he has the right.
