Instead of sending out checks, the Fed gov should quit taking taxes out of worker pay checks.

That would get money to people that need it. Old people like me dont need it, since our Social Security checks and retirement pay keeps coming in.

Seems good to do. Gets people back to work and delivers money to people by not stealing it in the first place.

The shortcoming in this is that if the money never gets to DC, the lying thieves in the Government never get their chance to steal it.

Bad plan. Those who make the least that would need it the most end up paying no taxes anyway. So, that 40% wouldn't be helped by your plan. Plus, 25% aren't drawing a paycheck. It would only help those who make the most.

If you are not working, why not? The tax relief could also go to people that got laid off their job because of the China virus. If you are infirm you are on welfare.

My breakfast and coffee group are on SS and retirement and agree we dont need the money. We believe it should go to the the people that need it. We believe that sending money to retired people is another attempt by democrats to buy votes in Nov.

Hmm... where do old people (like you and I receiving SS) think that the federal funding for those SS payments comes from? How, exactly, would a federal "tax holiday" help those (36M?) folks who have lost their jobs?

1) Many had their 'non-essential' jobs "paused" by state government mandates.

2) Assuming that you are supporting a (FICA) payroll tax "holiday" (the Trump plan?) that would not affect those getting UI benefits.

BTW, you are quite free to donate your $1,200 of not needed "recovery" income to charity.

I think this falls under the rubric of 'What's wrong with this picture?'

If someone needs money because he/she isn't working, he/she isn't getting a paycheck.
If he/she isn't getting a paycheck from which to stop withholding taxes ... .

You are asking them to entirely remove themselves from the economy, which is a practical impossibility, and just because they do not have a paycheck.

which is why our military members, etc are so embarrassed all the time. they are paid with stolen money. their retirements are funded with stolen money. people who risk their lives spying for us are paid with stolen money.
