Never watched 24 when Keizer Sutherland starred. But joined Amazon for their 2-day free shipping...us it for my Echo, and now... for their huge video library. Just finished season three. What an AWESOME tv show. The wicked witch is finally deaf. (Sherry)

Did you watch the series? Belong to Amazon? Getting your money's worth?

People still watch that show?

I use Amazon Prime for everything, 2-day is great but recently Montreal got free 1-day shipping so I use that. I use Prime to stream animes they simulcast.

I've got an Amazon button on my new TV remote but haven't used it. I already fork over a couple of hundred bucks to Cox Communications every month for TV and Internet service then Netflix (the other button on my remote) gets $12 so I figure Amazon would cost me at least another $50/mo.

God forbid they ever put a Cabela's or a Bass Pro Shops button on my remote.

Your last line...lols!!

Amazon is $8.50 a month. Free 2-day shipping on most items. 5000 movies and tv series. Draw down your cable. ;)

I think you can do that without Amazon prime now

hbonow.com

And Amazon prime pays itself over many times for me. Free shipping, video and prime deals (inc Prime day)

And 24 is a great show Maggie! Beware of being sucked in to too many episodes then realizing it's 4am and you should have gone to bed a long time ago :)

There's your problem. You're paying for TV, which makes you pay for a million channels you don't watch. Just cut the cord and stream everything.

I love Amazon. Its great. Their customer service is the bomb. I once ordered a palm tree from them that was delivered broken and they didn't even bat an eye, they sent a replacement that day. Customer service of theirs was and is outstanding. Others could learn a thing or two from them. I subscribe to their unlimited Kindle library and that is just fabu. I get my moneys worth and then some. Same with the Prime. I use Amazon as the video rental store now instead of Redbox or Netflix DVD subscription. I get refunds automatically if I get a bad connection. I don't even have to call they just automatically do it. Pretty darn cool I think. I am going to check their audio subscription out and see if they have the artists I prefer. Amazon is a great company. So long as their customer service remains excellent I will stick with them. Like Tony the Tiger says "Theirrrrrrrrr GGGGrrrreeeatt."

I want to hate them because I hear their business practices are incredibly shady and they treat their employees like **** (according to a few ex-employees I know). But they're just so darned convenient.

I have this add-on on Chrome called wikibuy - whenever you look up something on Amazon it scours the internet to find it cheaper for you. Been trying them out so as not to be complicit in Amazon's impending takeover of the world.

I think Amazons a lot like Walmart everyone loves to hate them. I used to really love Walmart because a majority of what they sold was made in the USA and the customer service was very good. Now they are just another retailer to me. They aren't all bad though when comes to being employed by them, if you work in the stores they are only going to pay what you are worth which aint much to be honest. If you work in a distribution center, or as a truck driver then your pay will be amongst the highest in the industry. Truck Drivers start out at 82,000 a year plus benefits. In an industry with triple digit turnover Walmarts is single digit. That's saying something. Amazon is much the same way it just depends on what you are hired on to do for them.

You trying to get a job with Amazon? (jk)

They opened up a HUGE fulfillment center in west Charlotte and they're tripling it's size as we speak. Hiring people hand over fist, and putting buckets of cash into the local economy. Add that to all the stuff you accurately said about them in your post, and you've got one of the greatest corporations in the world right here in the US.

Actually yea I am trying to land a contract with them pulling their trailers. Supposed to be decent money. We shall see.

Well unlike most companies they actually invest almost every cent they make back into the business. They are far form perfect though. They exploit H1-B visas and treat a lot of warehouse employees poorly.

Their model for last mile delivery also sucks.

Most successful businesses do that, actually. Maybe not banks or investment firms, but manufacturers and service providers do.

I have no reason to doubt you, but I've never heard that before. Granted, I've not really researched them, so I can't speak one way or the other on that. I know they are currently in one huge honeymoon period with the locals where I live with their investments they're making. They could take a dump on the front lawn and people would say how nice it is that they're fertilizing the grass. I'm sure that won't last. The number one pastime for people around me is bitching about other people, so I'm sure Amazon's time is coming.

Not to the extent Amazon does, Amazon does not even declare profits a lot of times. As a marketing expert I watch once said they never got their investors hooked on the crack that is profit. This is not true for other companies, for example when Wal-Mart needed to reduce profit by billions to invest in e-commerce their stock plunged.

I definitely get my money's worth with Amazon.

Hah, yeah, 24 was one I missed too, and I watched it a few years ago. That first season was great, but I really like the female lead in it, and was sad to see that dynamic go away, and the second season be different. 24 was so frantic. I know its probably just because its Kiefer, but I get that same frantic feeling from Designated Survivor. Kind of stresses me out when I'm trying to sleep :)

Amazon pays my bills so I will not disparage it.
