America has lost its mind over political correctness

Why exactly did they fear for Robert Lee's safety? Was there any indicadtion beforehand that he was at risk.

I think this is a stupid overreaction on ESPN's part.

An asian american was pulled from a football game because his name is Robert Lee.
are you friggen serious?

this insanity has to stop and reasoned discourse and logic is needed in this case.

I'm not sure if this is really political correctness. They didn't fire the guy or make him go home. They simply swapped him to another game. If they would have had Robert Lee announce the game right after all that mess people could accuse them of possible setting it up like that on purpose to poke fun or something. They were just thinking ahead. Now I agree that this should be unnecessary, and that anyone upset about the name of an announcer needs to check themselves, but this was simply a private company making a decision. I definitely don't think it's one of the more offensive examples of people making choices based on political correctness.

We have moved beyond a dangerous time. When a company as large as
ESPN is doing this *hit because he has the same name as a confederate general.
For gods sake the man is Asian. The left is continuously screaming about fascists.
Well this is a fascist action. Even if the guy was related to the Lee family so what.
We are talking about some one (General Lee) who lived 150+ years ago.

thanks you for confirming my argument.
the guy is asian. he has nothing to do with a confederate general that lived 150 years ago.

it is pure stupidity. No they were being idiots.
so please tell us what an asian man as to do with a confederate general 150 years ago.

this should be interesting.

no threat to his life or anything else.
his name is just Robert Lee (a common asian name)

so they moved him.

because it is similar to Robert E. Lee.

If you think that anywhere in my argument that I said that an asian man has anything to do with the confederate general then you didn't read or try to understand it. You just want to bitch and moan. You're welcome to do it, but I won't be a part of it champ.

No, instead you'll justify like it this is all perfectly rational. It isn't.

Actually it was Malcolm-X ... but you get a (E) for effort, because how would you know?

Eh, you America self loathers all sound the same to me.

Never said it was perfectly rational. But if my name was Robert Lee and they were sending me to an area where there were a bunch of violent protests over a Robert Lee statue and they offered me to switch to a game elsewhere, I'd switch. If anyone for even one second decided to get angry about a guy named Robert Lee then they are a moron, but I understand moving him. So go lie about someone else X. I don't appreciate it.

The planet is over-populated with humans, and they have not been good custodians of the planet. Many species start destroying each other when the population is too crowded.

Yup..the terrorist acts of the left are working...this is a good example of that fact

The Purge has Started

Well, the violence on either side is working. I also wouldn't wear a yarmulke to a right wing nazi protest. The difference between people like you and I is that I am offended by violence on both sides and I think the behavior of Antifa i bad for this country and the ideals of the nazi groups are disgusting where as all you ever want to talk about is how evil the left is rather than the whole picture.

Chill dude, did I misunderstand you? I thought your argument that the decision to move him to was a rational one, even a good thing. In fact, it seems to me that you're still saying that, so in the fine tradition of schoolyards everywhere, I'm rubber and you're glue....

I agree with the bolded anyway.

I think it's something they shouldn't have to do and I wouldn't criticize them for not doing it, and if someone attacked them for not doing it I'd argue with that idiot. But I understand the logic behind not wanting to send a guy named Robert Lee in to an area that recently had violent protests over a statue of a guy with the same name. Its the same thing if CNN decided not to send a Jewish correspondent with a yarmulke on his head to report on a Nazi rally. I don't think they should have to do that, but I would understand the decision and I blame the Nazi's and the Antifa morons for these decisions having to be made.

When you said I'll "justify" it, I took you to mean that I'm trying to say that ESPN should have to pull this guy and put him on another game so as to not offend people. I don't think they should have to and I think anyone offended is an idiot. But I understand why they would do it with the recent events. They never would have pulled this guy were it not for the recent violence. To me that means it has less to do with political correctness in general and more to do with just being careful.

you need to go back and read your own post.
you simply just can't admit that this is a knee jerk and stupid reaction on the part
of espn.

the fact that a guy get kicks off a football game because his name happens to match a general that was dead 150 years ago is absurd.

Not given the current situation. It's stupid that we should even have to consider stuff like this but the move itself given the facts on the ground is understandable. Just like it would be stupid for a news channel to pull a jewish correspondent from a job assignment in Virginia, but completely reasonable to not send that same correspondent in to a white nationalist rally in virginia.

Like I said, it's stupid that this kind of stuff has to be considered because there are idiots out there, but I understand why ESPN took the steps they did.

The left has lost its mind. America? Not so much. Reasoned discourse and logic is currently unattainable, but that's not to say it would be sometime in the future.
