America’s Blue-Red Divide Is About to Get Starker

I saw a lot of federal-tax-funded projects in progress, too. You know, the ones they voted against funding.

They should have written the bill to give FULL EQUAL funding to Republican areas - if they voted for the bill, and if not, nothing.

You do not offer a compelling argument.

It would be difficult to get more divided than in 2020 when Democrats supported the burning of whole neighborhoods while impeaching a President with no reason more than he was a jerk.
I am getting tired of posting this.
Trump manipulated you with his racist, partisan campaign psy-OP and consider what you're posting here, 19 months later!

"Mortgage interest deduction for newly purchased homes (and second homes) was lowered from total loan balances of $1 million under current law to $750,000. Interest from home equity loans (aka second mortgages) is no longer deductible, unless the money is used for home improvements.

The deduction for state and local income tax, sales tax, and property taxes ("SALT deduction") will be capped at $10,000. This has more impact on taxpayers with more expensive property, generally those who live in higher-income areas, or people in states with higher rates for state tax.[32]

The act zeroed out the federal tax penalty for violating the individual mandate of the Affordable Care Act, starting in 2019. (In order to pass the Senate under reconciliation rules with only 50 votes, the requirement itself is still in effect).[33] This is estimated to save the government over $300 billion, because up to an estimated 13 million fewer people will have insurance coverage, resulting in the government giving fewer tax subsidies. It is estimated to increase premiums on the health insurance exchanges by up to 10%.[18]

"...Bloomberg News reported in January 2020 that the top six American banks saved more than $32 billion in taxes during the two years after enactment of the tax cut, while they reduced lending, cut jobs and increased distributions to shareholders.[117]

By state

An Institute on Taxation and Economic Policy analysis indicated the Act has more of a tax increase impact on "upper-middle-class families in major metropolitan areas, particularly in Democratic-leaning states where taxes, and usually property values, are higher. While only about one-in-five families between the 80th and 95th income percentiles in most red states would face higher taxes by 2027 under the House GOP bill, that number rises to about one-third in Colorado and Illinois, around two-fifths or more in Oregon, Virginia, Massachusetts, New York and Connecticut, and half or more in New Jersey, California and Maryland..."[118] ..."

It's what the right want. They openly talk about it. It's no secret
They're too godamned stupid and radicalized to grasp the consquences, increased foreign threat, or domestic threat.

The G.O.P.'s wealthiest donors hire "strategists" to map a strategy of preying on and manipulating,
and inciting stupidest white christian males and the rest just follow on.

They'll do plenty of damage but they won't prevail unless they succeed in weakening the country's ability to conduct foreign policy
and respond to foreign threats while they're busy destroying non-partisan oversight of democratic elections and instigating violence
along the lines of January 6 in the states not held captive by the G.O.P.

The G.O.P. strength is the achilles heal the rest of the country has to exploit. The lack of education and the gullibility of the Trump base.
They fail to grasp that more Trump voters live in democratic party controlled jurisdictions than anywhere else. They reside in blue states
and in blue metro areas of red states because they can't maintain a comparable quality of life in shit-hole G.O.P. controlled territory.

Whistleblower complaint

Murphy filed a whistleblower complaint in September 2020 alleging episodes of misconduct by top DHS officials. Murphy asserted that DHS secretary Chad Wolf and his deputy Ken Cuccinelli instructed him “to modify intelligence assessments to ensure they matched up with the public comments by President Trump on the subject of ANTIFA and 'anarchist' groups” and to downplay the threat posed by white supremacists. Murphy stated he declined to comply. Murphy also claimed Wolf told him to "cease providing intelligence assessments on the threat of Russian interference in the US, ..” ..

He had also submitted prior complaints. ,,about the way the intelligence program was addressing Russian disinformation. He had also filed two Office of the Inspector General reports about “attempted censorship of intelligence analysis.

Days before his September 2020 complaint, ABC News reported that DHS under Trump 2020 had withheld the July release of an intelligence bulletin to law enforcement that warned of Russian efforts to promote “allegations about the poor mental health” of Joe Biden. DHS chief of staff John Gountanis halted the release pending review by secretary Wolf. The bulletin stated that analysts had “high confidence” of the Russian efforts, which were similar to efforts by Trump and his campaign to depict Biden as mentally unfit. ...

...once Murphy was removed in July 2020 he was replaced by an inexperienced partisan employee, Joseph Maher. Maher shut-down all of the organizations ability to detect domestic terrorism threats. Summing up my posts,
Voters of the (among the least populated) 13 states with the least educated voters of all 50 U.S. States, sent 26 senators to Washington, DC who only represent the best interests of the wealthiest donors to the G.O.P.

These senators, along with G.O.P. senators of other states took over and co-opted the third branch of government, the SCOTUS,
by five consecutive nominations to the SCOTUS of exclusively white Roman Catholic judges by two G.O.P. POTUS who did not
win the popular vote to enter that high office.

Both G.O.P. presidents worked exclusively off lists of names of judges provided to them by one corrupt officer of the Federalist Society,
Leonard Leo.

We already are well into a civil war that has inflicted more damage on our federal government than experienced in the Civil War
of 150 years ago.

"Honest Elections Project (HEP) is a dark money voter suppression group formed in February 2020 that is a project of The 85 Fund.[1] The 85 Fund is the new legal name for the Judicial Education Project, a group closely linked to Leonard Leo that has played an integral role in Trump's effort to fill the federal judiciary with right-wing judges.[1]

HEP is led by Jason Snead, former senior policy analyst for the Heritage Foundation where he was tasked with developing the Heritage Election Fraud Database.[2]

HEP has a sister organization, HEP Action, but as of March 2021 it is unclear if this is a project of another Leo nonprofit or if it is registered as an independent organization.[3]

I reread this post in the context of the discussion. If I understand, now, what you are saying that Republican areas only get funding if their representatives voted for it.

what you are saying that Republican areas only get funding if their representatives voted for it.
That used to be how legislation was passed. Legislators negotiated for earmarks to support their States (McConnell still does this, just only within his party). Then ideologues went after "porkbarrel spending"/earmarks, and passing legislation practically became impossible. When there are no consequences for voting against legislation, and no penalty for lying about the benefits flowing to your State, well, this is what we get.

Yes, that's what I'm saying I think is an interesting idea. It shouldn't be partisan/unfair by design if they vote for it - but what about making support for the bill affect whether they get to participate? A softer and I think better version would reduce funding but still fund some things critical for the country in districts that vote against it. Your version of doing that in negotiations might be even better.

Not at all. Trump haters are everywhere. If you base evaluations on his popularity with media, academia, and many other groups, then he is one of the worst ever.

What is stopping them now from supporting themselves?

The red states have been supported by the blue states for decades.

No one is stopping them from supporting themselves except themselves. They keep electing politicians who refuse to responsibly financially support their states.

Most red states don't properly tax their populations. Especially those who are rich and business.

They take tax dollars from the rural areas and spend it in the urban areas. Leaving the rural areas to fall apart. There are countless ghost towns in red states. I drove through them last year.

While in the blue states they are more responsible. They tax their populations something that resembles responsibility. We didn't abandon our rural areas. In fact, our rural ares have grown and succeeded while the opposite is the norm in red states. The blue states receive less tax dollars than we contribute.

The last thing red states are going to do is properly support themselves. So they are never going to leave the United Sates. They know they can't survive without us in the blue states supporting them. At least their politicians do. They may be lying to their constituents but they know that their constituents want to be lied to.
Ghost towns where???

Most normal people take the interstate and only stop off at a ramp for food and gas.

Ghost towns where???

Most normal people take the interstate and only stop off at a ramp for food and gas.

Yes ghost towns.

Last year I took a road trip that most people of my generation put on the bucket lists.

I drove to Chicago then took what's left of Route 66 to Santa Monica Pier. Many parts of it are gone now so I went back and forth from the interstate back to Route 66 when it was available. I found the ghost towns on the interstate too.

Most of it is through red state America. And that's where I found all those ghost towns.

It's sad really. The politicians of those states have abandoned the rural areas. I realized why those in the rural areas are so ticked off. They pay taxes but it all goes to the large cities in the state. Nothing left for the rural areas.

And the urban areas of those states are run down, dirty and filled with crime. Someone tried to break into my hotel room twice in Tulsa. I stayed at a Best Western and was afraid to go out the door. The roads are better in the urban areas than the rural areas but are a mess compared to the urban areas of my blue state. The only roads I found that were even close to being decent were the federally funded interstates. All the state roads were a total mess. In fact, the bad roads caused one of my brand new BF Goodrich tires to blow up on interstate 40 in Arizona. The AAA guy who came to help me said it's normal for that to happen. That it's happened to him 3 times in the last 2 years. It's not normal for that to happen in my state.

We didn't abandon our rural areas but then, we tax our population here something close to properly so there is enough money for both the rural and urban areas. All of our roads are maintained and in good shape. Not just the interstate. In fact, in the 90s when we realized that the rural areas didn't have full 9-1-1 service. We in the urban areas voted to increase our own taxes to pay for the rural areas to have 9-1-1. We built colleges in rural areas and promoted business in those areas so they have grown along with the rest of the state.

Red state America doesn't do that.

That's great news!

Why not make it legal?

The blue states can be one independent nation.

The red states another.

Finally, people will be allowed to live with other people of similar political & cultural values.

Let people live in New York City, for example, with all of its disgusting and sickening crime.

And let other people live in some red state where they still execute bad people.

A win-win for everyone!

Because the divide is not blue or red state, the divide is more urban vs rural. The majority of cities are blue, most rural areas are red. Splitting by state would have very little impact on the divide

Dude, there are no blue states or red states. There are blue cities and red rural areas. How can you be 85 and not know this? I'm less than half your age and learned this in the post-2012 election results analysis.

Please understand the reality of the situation and revisit whether your post (this ridiculous 'blue states nation / red states nation') makes any sense.
Say WTF?

You do know Bloomberg was mayor of New York city right?

Many cities run by Republicans and highly successful, and many rural areas that are blue, rich folks or college kids who decide a local election

I still say your full of it I never seen any ghost towns From Chicago to California, except the occasional place that the interstate by passed

And again who would try to follow RT 66, it must of took you a month

Both were thrown out because there was never any valid charge.
No they were thrown about because of his lap dogs in the Senate. He should have lost his job after the first impeachment, and should have been in jail after the second. He is garbage.

Name them. Seriously.

I can lead you to facts but I cannot make you think.

The boomer generation has had a love for Route 66 for decades. Bob Dylan actually wrote a song about it.

It's a drive that millions of us baby boomers have taken. It's a great trip. I had done parts of Route 66 in the past but never the whole thing. When I became fully vaccinated last year, on the spur of the moment, I packed 4 of my cameras, some other stuff and headed to Route 66. No it didn't take me a month. It took me 3 weeks. It was a great trip.

I don't care if you think I'm full of it. I know what I saw and photographed. I was shocked to see so many conservative states in such horrible shape. I realized why so many people in rural areas in red states are so angry. I would be too. They are being ripped off and abandoned.

I would feel sorry for them but they voted for it. The sad thing is that it doesn't have to be that way.
