Goldwater

Well, I suppose you could say I am merely a very reasonable person; I'm a very materialistic, selfish person... But that's not very helpful, or useful, is it? Heh, I don't believe in anything I can't throw; I don't think much of what philosophy and political science has 'discovered' and obviously, I believe honesty is the best defense against... Well, everything.

I also use the word 'well,' a lot.

Anyhow, I am very conservative, but love Ron Paul. You could say, I'm a Barry Goldwater sort of conservative. Love my religion, but in the back seat; hate war, but willing to go all out for it. Don't have the time to waste my time with such utopian, idealistic, vote panderings such as "hope-hope-change-hope-hope" or "equality" or even the damn "public good."

That's it. I'm aiming for a special place in all your hearts, namely; the crazy guy you all love to hate. Is that to creepy? Hmm... If so, oops. But it's true.

Welcome! :2wave:

You may have to take a number for the bolded part.

Welcome Goldwater. :2wave:

Barry was my hero. That is a REAL conservative. Too bad that many of today's conservatives (even here at this site there are a few) knoweth not Goldwater and what REAL conservatism means. He would tell them all to shut the hell up!

I could never live up to his ideas, but at the very least I'm glad someone who enjoys him as much as I do.

Other than Goldwater's unique views on segregation, his ideas of conservatism appeal to me the most. He would tell today's bible thumping social coservatives to go to hell. :rofl

Oh yes, lest I forget. I noticed that in your profile you have labeled your "lean" as very conservative. I too, like to think I am conservative as well. But the classification "very conservative" is usually reserved for the whacko conservatives we are blessed with here at Debate Politics.

They would tell you that Barry Goldwater was a homo-lovin' liberal.

I just thought I'd fill ya in since you're new here and all. ;)

Haha, he would've had some good phrases for them. He's a party man, but he would've given them a taste of their own medicine.

I believe we should cut off the North-East and let it sink into the sea; that classifies me as Very Conservative any way you cut it. ;)

Well, if it's any consolation, you might be happy to know that according to the History Channel, about every 10,000 years that region is covered with 100' glaciers. We are in between that time period right now but in 5,000 or so more years, the northeast will be all but a memory. :rofl

We have much in common.

Welcome to DP!

A courteous welcome to Debate Politics. I would say we are on the opposite ends of the political spectrum in many areas.

Are you two really that far apart politically? I guess that is yet to be seen. But I can't see you two getting sideways.

Probably are. I am diametrically opposite to many libertarian positions.
