(CNN) -- From around Aleppo in western Syria to small areas of Falluja in central Iraq, al Qaeda now controls territory that stretches more than 400 miles across the heart of the Middle East, according to English and Arab language news accounts as well as accounts on jihadist websites.
Indeed, al Qaeda appears to control more territory in the Arab world than it has done at any time in its history.

So more masterful foreign policy from the Obama administration. Under them we have seen a spread of not just AQ but islamic fundamentalism throughout Asia and Africa. And when our weak leader picks a position-its SUPPORTING these types of characters.
Think back to the campaign promises. Think forward to all the innocent people throughout the world that are suffering because these thugs are running the show.
Actually the invasion of Iraq probably did the most to spread Al Qaeda into Iraq.
Syria is in a civil war...what exactly should the President be doing? Supporting a dictator? Support a rebellion that has known jihadist?
In 2012 the leadership of the Taliban declared that they would no longer support Al Quaida.
Their leadership has been decimated and to carry that brand name means almoust certain death by a drone.
The problem is that Al Quaida found new homes in other regions such as Somalia, Algeria, Mali, Syria and Iraq.
Developments for which you can mostly not blame the current or even last US president.
Somalia has been in a state of Anarchy since the late 1980s, Algeria went through a civil war with islmaists in the 1990s and the defeated islamists built their base in the Southern desert as a terror network, Mali had an incompetent government that was not capable of facing off the Northern islamists, Syria is a steaming pile of ****, and in Iraq the shia government discriminated the suni population that bady that alot of them went off to join Al Quaida.
Weird how you Americans sometimes even blame yourselves for things that you had no involvement in.
Most of the world is ran by morons so it is no suprise when bad things happen.

AQ isn't from Afghanistan-it had spread there from the ME and Africa. This isnt new.
In any case-Obama took credit for decimating AQ while they expand.
As they expand (and with more groups becoming contiguous) they will have more people to subjugate, more innocents to kill, more resources to attack everyone, and will become even harder to fight.
This is not progress.
Will only get worse if the US isolationists get their way.
If your women and kids get in the way, raise your hand during the next planning session, or find another hut to live in.
All I said was that American politicians and the military administration of the past 14 years cannot be held a 100% accountable for each new base of terror created for al quaida.
I guess if Obama's job title is President of the World then he is indeed doing a terrible job.
Fair enough. And pray tell what nation are you from?

That's exaclty what conservatives are complaining about Obama NOW, collatoral damage.
It would seem conservatives only want to kill brown people when it's a Republican in charge.
Obama has been on the wrong side in Iran, Syria, and Egypt (even if Assad isnt a great guy-he's preferable to these islamists).
They were roaming those areas under Bush. Obama has expanded drone strikes in those countries and expanded programs where we work with governments to get those guys. I'm not sure what else he could do or how his policies are any different than Bush's.Obama's policy has failed to curtail AQ despite them being enemy #1 in the war on terror. AQ terrorists still roam around Kenya, Libya, Philippines, and so on. Its why Bush has a higher approval rating AROUND THE WORLD, including the ME.
AQ will never be wiped out. Terrorism will never be wiped out. The US strategy is to use drone strikes and work with other countries to keep these guys on the run and from establishing the sort of network they had pre-9/11. You can definitely get some weapons and cause problems while hiding but you can't organize the sort of attacks they did when they had a formal base of operation. . I'm not sure exactly what the expectation is. A lot of the events you criticize him are things that would of happened regardless of president. He RAN FOR REELECTION on saying OQ was on the run. His appeasement policies dont work. His Russian reset button hasn't worked. I could go on and on.
He's supposedly SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO ****ing brilliant, it should be a piece of cake for him to figure out. Especially with foreign policy genius, Joe Biden.

I see a lot of criticism and hindsight criticism by the right in this country but no concrete counter policy when the **** hits the fan.
What it comes down to, in or around January of 2012 the CIA informed President Obama at the same time they informed the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence that Al Qaeda wasn't being decimated and were on the run, running all over the Middle East and North Africa expanding their base of operations. That Al Qaeda was now larger and more dangerous than before 2009.
But President Obama's platform for getting reelected in 2012 was that "Al Qaeda was being decimated" and that "Al Qaeda was on the run."
Obama lied to the American people to get reelected. And when Al Qaeda affiliated groups attacked our consulate in Benghazi eight months later on 9-11-12 and murdered four American citizens who were pleading for help that never came, the Obama White House had to cover up the truth that Al Qaeda wasn't being decimated and were actually running all over the Middle East and North Africa and tried to blame it on a You Tube video.
