"According to the FBI, Hispanics do not commit crimes" :thinking

>" The latest Census Bureau data reports that Hispanics make up 17.1 percent of the U.S. population, and, while the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) lists the race of reported offenders in their annual Uniformed Crime Report (UCR), the agency does not report crimes committed by Hispanics or Latinos.

The 2012 UCR listed the total number of crimes committed by "whites," "blacks," "American Indian or Alaskan natives" and even those committed by "Asian or Pacific Islanders (who only accounted for 1.2 percent of the nation's crimes)." But, none by Hispanics.

Is this simply an oversight?...Could the FBI be so incompetent that they are unaware of the existence of this nation's large Hispanic population?

Apparently, that is not the case, since the FBI does list Hispanics as victims of crime. The 2012 report states: "Rates of serious violent victimization for whites, blacks, and Hispanics remained stable from 2011 to 2012."

Consider the following facts:

-In 2010, Hispanics accounted for 20.6 percent of the US prison population, according to Bureau of Prisons data.

-The 2011 National Youth Gang Survey Analysis reported that 46 percent of all US gang members are Hispanic.

-In 2009, a Pew Hispanic Center study, reported that Hispanics/Latinos "accounted for 40 percent of all sentenced federal offenders."

So, why has the FBI chosen to simply omit the all Hispanic crime?

It is likely due to the fact that 72 percent of Hispanic offenders are not U.S. citizens,..."<

One problem with race/ethnicity statistics is who gets to assign the labels (and on what basis). It may change soon but will likely take quite a while (after immigration reform?) to take hold: FBI To Categorize 'Latinos' In Crime Statistics | Fox News Latino

Hispanic is not a race, it is an ethnicity. See how easy you could avoid all that outrage simply by knowing what words mean?

Typical liberal response, playing the race card and making false accusations.

I never brought up race or or even mentioned Hispanic or Latino.

I went back and read the article again and no where did the author of the article, the FBI , U.S. Census Bureau, National Youth Gang Survey Analysis or the Pew Hispanic Center used the word race or referred to Hispanics or Latinos as being a race.

In fact my only contribution to the opening thread was three words, >" Say that again. "<

BTW, isn't this a no fishing zone ?

It's about ****ing time that the FBI stopped grouping Latinos as being white. But Hispanics can be of any race or ethnicity.

But will the FBI continue to combine illegal aliens with Americans ?

From the OP (original post)
>" You see, the federal government has never kept official statistics on the crimes committed by those here illegally. If there was ever a true accounting made of the types and number of crimes being committed by illegal aliens, it would likely result in calls for mass deportations by outraged citizens of all political stripes,..."<

Of course Hispanics commit no crimes, by the time the politicians and their pandered classes get done, there is nothing left

The OP topic is not race/ethnicity and crime but whether crimes committed by illegal aliens should be officially tracked and reported to the public. The fact that a large percentage of illegal aliens are Hispanic may play a part in the decision to not use that census data category in the official FBI crime statistics.

Maybe you need a memory refresh. Here is from your first post in the thread, which I responded to:

Oh look, you brought up race, Hispanics and Latinos. ALso note that pointing out that Hispanic is not a race is not "playing the race card".

Might want to try again, since the article, in the above quote from you in the OP clearly did mention race, and what it is referring to is the FBI statistics on race.

I have never seen any one run away from what they said so fast when proven wrong, and try and deny they ever said it...

How would you classify a "white hispanic"?

White is a race, Hispanic is an ethnicity. That would make a white Hispanic some one of the Hispanic ethnicity whose race is white. Not sure why that would be confusing.

Well, no. In point of fact, the reason Hispanics are not currently tracked in terms of race who commit crimes is because that chart looks at the race of the person who committed the crime. What you are doing would be like complaining that a chart of how many dollars are spent on various expenses does not include non-expenses.

Believe me, my name isn't Dave Gibson, I didn't write the article.

They are not grouped with white, but with whatever race they happen to be.

National origin is not a race, so why would they separate them when looking at race or ethnicity? Why are you trying so desperately hard to be outraged?

Race and ethnc data are not the same (I have seen no claim made otherwise) but are both tracked in our officail census.

Notice how in fact you say the article did not mention the things I showed it mentioned, and that you quoted it mentioning, and notice how your thread title contains the word you claimed you never used?

Most Mexicans and Americans of Mexican decent don't like being labeled as Hispanic. They prefer Latino.

One thing is for sure, when the FBI stops combining Latinos with whites the national crime statistics are going to look like when you walk through a cell block at the L.A. County Jail.

Yes, they are, but the FBI is not the census. Did you think they where the same?

They track different things but should use the same methods of subdividing the folks. The datasets are related in that they provide us with per capita crime rates - a very useful tool when comparing different areas. The point of the OP is that ethnic information is being withheld from crime statistics and likely for political reasons. We get treated to the fact that Hispanics, lke blacks, tend to vote heavily Democratic yet we are not told of the Hispanuc comtribution to national, state or local crime.

I would agree they should, and it looks like that is in process. However, they do not currently.

I believe the Obama administration has created a U.S. Census Burial SWATT.

Most things you believe have turned out to be false. Funny that...

Redress, you are the one playing the race card. Your still talking race.

Lets talk about illegal aliens who commit crimes being lumped with Americans.

I know, those BLM SWATT weren't really BLM SWATT. And those DHHS (Departments of Health and Human Services) people really aren't carrying guns.

You brought race up, and table in question is about race, and I am playing the race card because I am pointing out that Hispanic/Latino is not a race. That is ****ing hilarious.
