ACA only gets 15% of enrollment goals, and no updates for over 2 1/2 months! [W:232]

Re: ACA only gets 15% of enrollment goals, and no updates for over 2 1/2 months!

Ironic.

More than 10 million previously uninsured people now have coverage thanks to ACA, and premiums for employer sponsored insurance increased an average 5.9%/year since 2010

‘Skyrocketing’ Premiums

I highly doubt that and quoting Kaiser, probably the worst healthcare provider group, is insane. They're more concerned with politics than providing good healthcare.

How many who once had coverage lost that coverage because of Obamacare? You cannot count those folks as previously uninsured when they sign up for another policy (at a higher premium of course).

Re: ACA only gets 15% of enrollment goals, and no updates for over 2 1/2 months!

Actually no, it hasn't "covered a lot of americans that were not previously covered". That's part of the reason we're looking at some huge premium increases coming up.

Actually the facts are that it has....

one such fact:

New survey findings released today by the National Center for Health Statistics show that the extension of dependent health coverage up to age 26 continues to lead to greater rates of insurance coverage among young adults.1 This policy is one part of the Affordable Care Act, and it took effect for insurance plan renewals beginning on September 23, 2010. The new estimates show that from September 2010 to December 2011, the percentage of adults 19 to 25 with insurance coverage increased from 64.4% to 74.8%, which translates into over 3 million additional young adults with coverage.2 This continues the steady increase in coverage for this age group since the Affordable Care Act went into effect (Figure 1)3, and follows a new report from the Commonwealth Fund using independent survey data to show that coverage has expanded significantly for this age group in the past two years.4

Number of Young Adults Gaining Insurance Due to the Affordable Care Act Now Tops 3 million

And every one of those children who stay on their parent's policy into adulthood, rather than gain their own, represent a massive rise in cost of the parents' policy.

Don't get me wrong, that's one of the two provisions of the bill I like. But that and the coverage of pre-existing conditions would have meant a one page bill that would have likely had bi-partisan support. Instead we got a giant poison pill with two good provisions.

Re: ACA only gets 15% of enrollment goals, and no updates for over 2 1/2 months!

And how much did the company decide to eat? My employer covered the almost doubling in premiums so I saw no rise.

I dont believe the company ate anything. Again, the rise was minimal. Then again, I'm pretty sure they self insure anyway.

Another datapoint is a friend of mine here who has a business that employs about 100 people. His premiums rose somewhat, but he said it was minimal, especially compared to the steady, double digit rise he had in the past about ten years ago.

Re: ACA only gets 15% of enrollment goals, and no updates for over 2 1/2 months!

Saving $2,500 per year on premiums is not the same as lowering costs for health care

Nice try, only to an Obama loyalist, saving $2,500 on health insurance is lowering the cost of your health care. But hey stand by your man, with his lies and all.

Re: ACA only gets 15% of enrollment goals, and no updates for over 2 1/2 months!

It was a campaign promise that he stopped talking about in August 2008.

You believed his lies and voted for a liar and you voted for him a second time in spite of you knowing of his lies. Not me, my hands are clean.

Oh. I didnt realize you had my voting record.

You probably weren't around then, but there were some major events that happened in the world in Sept/Oct 2008. And you'll notice that the entire time that the ACA was in Congress, he did not make this claim as far as I can tell. And you'd think that 'selling' it (the $2500 promise) precisely at the time when you are working up a bill to be passed thru Congress. The idea that he has in mid 2008 was not the ACA. It was the proto ACA, before Congress got their hands on it.

But I guess you have to make up stuff if and tell it to yourself if you want to have a rational position against the ACA. I understand. Self delusion is a common defense mechanism against the real world.

You can make up all the excuses for voting for a liar all you want. And one of your excuses is Obama's controlled congress got their hands on it and geee all his flock changed things. You believed Obama and then turn around and blame his buddies for a failed Obamacare and making Obama out a liar. Boy, you fell hook line and sinker over Obama.

You lead quite an inner fantasy life!

To be honest, I don't know if the claim is true or not. He may have been talking about saving $2500 per year when it was fully implemented. He may have been talking about it happening in 2025. It may have been a provision that he dropped after the crash in 2008. I don't really care. I wasn't counting on a reduction anyway, just stable premiums and a bent cost curve, with the additional bonus that I and my kids could always get insurance and not go bankrupt because of bad medical luck. I got it.

The ACA is not failed. It's a significant marginal improvement in our insurance system.

Let's see, the rates for Intel and all the other tech companies that are our little Silicon Valley went ip quite a bit and well out of pace with the years prior to Obamacare legislation. Every other small and medium business in our area, the same. My own, which has been stable for years, almost doubled. All this with no change in coverage.

So? My experience is different.

the facts are though that there is little evidence that whats in obamacare CAUSES increase cost to the insurance companies OVER the increase profits from having everyone insured and having the government subsidize the heck out of it.. not to mention less cost by having more people insured by the state..

Got it, you don't care what Obama says or promises, you vote for a liar and who makes false promises. Good for your loyalty to failure and lies.

That is a stupid question, who do you think I vote with. Obama failure, I don't think so.

Something tells me you voted for Obama.

Wow, someone is very afraid of posting who he voted for.

Well.. as usual you would be wrong.. I didn't vote for Obama.. I voted the Libertarian ticket the last two go arounds.. after voting in the republican primary. I voted for Bush twice before.

So how about yourself.? Why not stand up and proclaim who you vote for?

You seem very critical toward democrats for "voting for a liar"... I just wondered if you held yourself to the same standard... or not..:3oops:

It would appear that he would vote for a liar as long as their views were closer to his own than the other candidates, but blast other people for voting for a liar because that candidate's views were closer to the other persons opinions than the other candidates

Yep.. it would appear so...

I just get so tired of the whole... you voted for the "communist, fascist, liar, insert expletive" stuff from both sides.

Of course it would appear to you, but I don't vote for liars. But we all know you did and did so twice. My hands are clean.

Yeah I say, let me put it this way I did not vote for liar failed Obama. However now what is very telling is your obsessiveness about who I voted for. Get over it.
