The Guardian: March 19, 2024. Abortions in the US have sharply increased despite bans implemented in Republican-led states after the supreme court’s overturning of Roe v Wade.
More than 1m abortions were performed in the US in 2023, a 10% increase from 2020, according to research from the Guttmacher Institute, an American policy organization which advocates for sexual and reproductive health.

A rise in medication abortions largely drove the increase, the Guttmacher Institute said. Also known as medical abortions, medication abortions are performed by taking a dose of two pills: mifepristone and misoprostol.


The latest figures on abortion come as at least 20 states have enacted near-total or complete bans on the procedure after the supreme court’s conservative supermajority eliminated the federal right once provided by the 1973 Roe decision.

Maybe rather than risk seeing how things were going and not being able to get an abortion later, they decided they better get one while the could, play it safe.

* The fewer human beings, the better society is.

* Hopefully when President Biden is reelected along with both Houses controlled by Democrats, he will ask for a law that offers abortion medication (free of charge) to all middle school and high school students.
 
The political process of adjusting legislation to the needs and mores of an evolving society is slow and, for lack of a better word, messy. This is most evident in a democracy, where we have, thanks to the institution of the Press, a good peek through an ajar door of the process. This is not true in authoritarian regimes.

Women had abortions long before Roe and will continue to have abortions even when they are made illegal and inaccessible.

The only outcome of these laws restricting abortion WILL be that more women wind up dead and/or maimed from “back alley” abortion providers.

The end goal has never had ANYTHING to do with a fetus. It has been and always will be a means to control women.

No more, no less.
 
So then conservatives were right. That all of the leftist screaming and wailing was just theater.
We said from the get go that it only made changes in states that already had little abortion availability in the first place, and blue states there was not one thing changed.
So all the screaming and wailing was, as stated, was just hysteria

Tell that to the women in states like Texas.

Their faces and cases are going to be excellent ads for any Democratic candidate running this election season.

You may not care about those women - or the impact these laws had on their lives - but plenty of other people do.

Then get on a bus and go to Arkansas. People travel to go to theme parks, vacations all the time. Traveling to get an abortion is really not impossible.

All women should have access to basic human rights like abortion, regardless of what state they live in.

Remember this come November and vote accordingly folks. They’ve plainly shown with their words and their actions that they don’t care about women nor the harm that their crusade will cause women.

If the fetus is shown to be a mass of cells that has no chance of developing, that is not abortion.

Hysteria? Is that what you call the reaction when people have the right to make decisions about their personal and private lives taken away.. Men get hysterical, as you call it, when they are told anti-gun laws will restrict their right to make personal and private decisions to purchase guns. "It's nobody's business what I buy" is a common comment. Conservatives got hysterical when told that masks were mandatory in certain places. Prohibition proved that it is a bad idea to take away the right to make private decisions about one's private life. It didn't turn out well

It won't just be more dead from back alley abortions either though. There will also be more dying from complications from birth and after, and more infant mortality as well, as we are already seeing this.

There are 100s of organizations that will pay for the transportation.
And if she is an adult, she knew this before committing the act that caused the pregnancy. This is 2024. Contraception is extremely cheap.
