a new survey has concern over abortion and equal rights top inflation by 22 points as main drivers of young women’s vote in battle ground states.
Graph Title: Issue Priorities for Young Likely Voters (18-29) Graph Data: Abortion/Women's Rights: 55% Women and 18% Men; Infation and rising prices: 33% Women and 36% Men; Health care and prescription drugs: 12% Women and 7% Men; Racism: 12% Women and 11% Men; Gun violence: 10% Women and 13% Men; Affordable housing: 9% Women and 15% Men. Source: Ms. magazine + Lake Research Partners
A new Ms. magazine and Feminist Majority Foundation poll by Lake Research Partners across nine battleground states (AZ, FL, GA, NC, NH, NV, OH, PA, and WI), finds that among young women voters, ages 18-29, abortion and women’s rights are the most important and highly motivating issues in determining their vote.

And among women voters of all ages in battleground states, abortion and women’s rights are tied with inflation and rising pricesin determining their votes

After the Dobbs decision, women know that their rights can be taken away. This is why they want equal protections guaranteed in the U.S. Constitution, the Equal Rights Amendment. The message in this poll from 74% of young women voters is clear: the ERA is more important than ever.

Women Voters of All Ages Energized by Abortion and Women’s Rights

Abortion restrictions and outright bans have energized pro-abortion rights women to be motivated to turn out to vote in November in much larger numbers than their anti-abortion counterparts, refuting conventional wisdom that those opposed to abortion are more motivated by the issue.

  • Thirty-five percent of pro-abortion rights voters prioritize women’s rights and abortion in their vote decisions—compared to 10 percent of anti-abortion voters.
In this election cycle, women’s rights and abortion matter, especially to women. This means women voters, who make up over half of likely voters in the battleground states, could decide the outcome of key races as candidates engage them on issues of personal relevance, including abortion and equal rights under the law.

  • Among women voters of all ages, abortion and women’s rights (at 31 percent) are just as critical as inflation and rising prices (at 32 percent), in determining their vote, and more important than crime (12 percent) or education (11 percent) regularly cited in media reports.

U.S. democracy is at a dangerous inflection point—from the demise of abortion rights, to a lack of pay equity and parental leave, to skyrocketing maternal mortality, and attacks on trans health. Left unchecked, these crises will lead to wider gaps in political participation and representation.

For 50 years, Ms. has been forging feminist journalism—reporting, rebelling and truth-telling from the front-lines, championing the Equal Rights Amendment, and centering the stories of those most impacted. With all that’s at stake for equality, we are redoubling our commitment for the next 50 years.

The only people I hear talking about and objecting to the trans-gendered are conservatives. They represent 1.5% of the entire population of the US. Why are you people so worried and upset about this tiny fraction of the population?
You live in an i credible bubbe I guess.

I don't think so. Our local school district is having a problem with religious groups disrupting school board meetings accusing the school district of teaching students to question their sexual orientation, allowing boys and men to use girls bathroom and shower facilities, teaching CRT, and hating parents. Our community is mostly Republican voters and our schools are not doing any of those things. This same scenario is going on all over the country. This is not my imagination. It's being reported in newspapers and on TV.

And some of those things are happening. And they cry abd moan if it is challenged.

And every other developed country employs an economy in which capitalism is a critical part.

So when you suggest Republican greed will cause Americans to "oppose capitalism," I think it's more accurate to say it would cause American to oppose Republicans. Because Democrats don't oppose capitalism, they oppose exploitation of the weak by the powerful.

Capitalism remains the powerful engine which creates the wealth we are all scabbling over.

Nope, they have socialist economies using the definition of socialism that the Right loves to use.

Okay, you have to be right. So capitalist countries that use tax dollars for things like health care or unemployment assistance aren't capitalist. Got it.

That’s the standard the Right uses to define socialism, so I’m going to hold them to it.

Please. It's all the time on the left. Trans this trans that.
