A US Army officer's mom just got deported.

Maybe they should yank his commission, given his family's odious crimes.

You are probably right. He could be a security risk due to anger. Depending upon his assignment, the military very much is interested in family background and family activities.

Tmw your Poe gets Poe'd.

maybe they should rescind his commission because of his evoking his military status while making a political speech objecting to the actions of the government he has sworn to protect and defend

viola, no more military mom

That will teach her.

damn straight

maybe she will not feloniously return from deportation a fourth time

We should also throw out a random number of other Hispanic officers, just so other people don't get crazy ideas.

She'll be back. Actually, that is the more significant story - deported 3 times and yet here she was again.

Are you saying its not true?

You're one of those guys who just invents the other side's arguments, refutes it in the same post, then screeches victory, right?

She's been deported to TJ. Will she try for the fifth time to enter CA. illegally?

This story is from my neck of the woods; San Diego.

She entered in the 80's and has been deported three times before. This week makes her fourth time after exhausting all appeals. Depending on when she first entered the U.S, I wonder why she didn't apply for citizenship when the Simpson–Mazzoli Act became law in 1986. It legalized most undocumented who entered prior to '82. Of course she could have entered after 1982. It's not clear when she did enter.

Yes, I feel for her American children. She brought this shame onto them by entering the country illegally four times. She now has to wait ten years before she can apply for legal entry. Very sad story.

eta: Found that she originally entered 31 years ago so that would exclude her from applying for citizenship.

why would we toss hispanic officers who have no record of dishonoring their commission?

It is not just my point of view. It is the point of view of the military and has been for a very long time for obvious reasons.

Nope.

Well, maybe sometimes I do, lol.

My point this time, however, is that folks in this thread seem to think we should cut folks slack due to military service. Basically, discriminate.

From the OP linked article:

"Reentering the United States after deportation is a felony under federal law, she said. "The prioritization of immigration fugitives since the inception of ICE emphasizes their arrest and removal because they deliberately ignored a federal judge's order," ICE spokeswoman Paige D. Hughes said. "Intentionally failing to carry out final orders of removal is negligence and undermines the entire framework of immigration enforcement, as established by Congress, and renders federal law useless."

Army officer's mom deported; he says he feels betrayed - CNN

Was she put on trial? Or was she not put on trial? Generally, for all but the most serious crimes, illegal immigrants are essentially given immunity from prosecution and deported, while for the same crime an American would be put on trial and put into prison. In some ways, American citizens are the 2nd class citizens in this country now.

So now Joko speaks for the military.

LOL

You just did. So anything else you have to say is kind of redundant, right? You already "won". So there's no point in reading anything else you say.

Because you guys get off on this stuff?

They need meat for their war machine though. They’ll have to choose between their hatred of immigrants and love of war.

If they really have to choose, they'll cashier the immigrants, regardless of any results on preparedness.
