Good grief.

Obama Event Shock: Union Fires Stagehand for Wearing ‘U.S.S. George H.W. Bush’ Shirt & Hat | The Blaze

Duane Hammet’s son has been serving in the Navy for three years. While at work recently, Hammet was sporting a sweatshirt and hat depicting his son’s ship, the USS George H. W. Bush. “Work” for Hammet is as a union stagehand, and while setting up for an Obama rally in L.A. today, his employer didn’t take too kindly to the name on his clothes.

According to Hammet, and reported by KTLA-TV in Los Angeles, the union asked him to remove his hat and turn his sweatshirt inside-out so that the name “Bush” would not be visible. When he refused, Hammet says he was fired:

They told him to take it off, turn it inside out or leave. The choice was his. Had a worker at a McCain rally been wearing a Clinton shirt what do you think would have happened?

The shirt was for a ship, not a person.

Actually, unions can fire (and underpay) their own employees much more easily than the companies who hire their members. Usually because their own employees are rarely . . . unionized.

The shirt was for a ship, not a person.

It was for the person the ship was named after. The guy wore it to irritate the Obama supporters. It backfired on him now he is crying like a baby.

I see you edited out "Obama" and replaced it with "Clinton" since that analogy wouldn't quite work. It still doesn't since the U.S.S. George H.W. Bush isn't an endorsement for Bush, but for the Navy. It's a ship, you see.

It's still his name, you see. The guy created his own problem. Too bad for him. He should have worn a "Navy" shirt.

First - it wasn't a political shirt. The U.S.S. George H. W. Bush is a United States commissioned warship, which Congress approved and funded, and Obama as the Commander and Chief, commands as part of his Navy. Why would there be a problem? You're counter example is apples and oranges btw.

He made it a political shirt by wearing it to the Obama event. He knew exactly what he was doing and got exactly the result he wanted. All you gullible people fell for it and gave him the attention he was seeking.

By your own logic the following clothing items that are sold by the US Navy are off-limits to be worn at political events for the Teleprompter-in-Chief.

USS Abraham Lincoln
USS Dwight D. Eisenhower
USS Theodore Roosevelt
USS George Washington
USS Harry S. Truman
USS Ronald Reagan
USS Carl Vinson (Congressman)
USS John C. Stennis (Senator)
USS Bonhomme Richard (Benjamin Franklin's pen name)
USS Henry M. Jackson (Senator)
USS Jimmy Carter

What about people that have served on those ships? Are they allowed to wear a shirt and a cap that celebrates their service on board those ships?

Get the **** outa here. Because I wear a t-shirt that says U.S.S. anything at an Obama event does NOT make it a political anything. Are you sure it wasn't political that the guy was ALIVE during G.H.W. Bush's Presidency too? Funny stuff. :lamo

LOL. It would not surprise me if his kid wasn't even aboard the USS Bush. You folks are so gullible.

Post up the evidence pal. Let's see... you claim it was a "set up", then you claim he purposefully made this a political issue, now you claim his kid wasn't on the USS Bush.

And until you prove it, there's no reason to believe you - especially given your foaming at the mouth hissy fit based on bupkus. Wait wati... it's all a Right Wing Conspiracy right? What's the definition of "are" that you used again? :giggle1:

Here's a quote from the article.
