A Three trillion dollar redistribution of wealth...

It is better than socialism to be sure, but yes, it does have some issues. That's why we still need government to regulate it, like it or not.

I agree so long as the regulation is fair and based on common sense so as not to interfere in the free flow of trade.

Based on common sense.. yes, there is the problem, making government regulations based on common sense, and not on the wishes of the biggest contributors and most well heeled lobbyists.

If only common sense were a bit more common.

If prices continue to drop, demand will increase.

Why? Prices have been cut in half, while petroleum demand has remained rather flat.

Supply will reduce again causing prices to rise.

Will it? Supply has outpaced demand for the better part of a year.

Actually and Unfortunately it is become more and more a thing of the past.

yea BP says this will supposedly last for years. lol It's interesting how it changes from reserves running low to "Supplies will exceed demand for years to come"! In 2014, BP claimed there was just over 51 years of oil left at current rates of consumption. The human population will double from 1980 to 2030, and the countries with the largest populations such as China and India are becoming some of the largest oil consumers.

excellent news. Let's be optimistic.

Of course we need to understand that eventually the oil will run out. There is only so much, and we're using it up much faster than it's being made.

And, there is no way even the seven billion humans that currently live on Earth could survive without a ready supply of energy and of fertilizer for crops, at least not with current technology.

Let alone however many billions there may be when the oil actually does begin to run out. Who knows how long that will take, or how many people there will be by then?

So, we'd still be well advised to research alternative energy, starting now, don't you think?

I dunno why BP would have claimed that, they knew it wasn't true.

Three years ago someone that I know who works in the energy field told me that we would be having this huge energy glut. I didn't believe him, but here we are. Lot's of people knew years ago that this would be coming, they just didn't want the rest of us to know, or maybe we just weren't listening to the right people.
