Her new chief of staff, Susan Sher, 61, is a close friend and former boss who the first lady thinks will be more forceful about getting her and her team on the West Wing's radar screen. The first thing Sher said she told senior adviser David Axelrod, whom she has known for years: When I call, "you need to get back to me right away."
First Lady Is Creating Role That Reflects Her Passions
Since when did First Ladies have a place at the policy table? Who wants Billary, part Deux?

You are just mad you dont have Bush and the boys to put down.
I don't mind First Ladies having an agenda. The best ones always have.I believe the reason we're not seeing Michele making public statements on policy more often, is because Krewe Obama is still trying to repare the damage done when she shot her mouth off during the campaign.
When they feel like they've done sufficient damage control, they'll turn her lose on the public again.
She should not have the West Wing on speed dial.
However, Michelle was not elected President. She is not part of the Administration. She has, as First Lady, something of a bully pulpit which may be fairly used to advance various causes. She should have a voice, and a purpose. She should not have the West Wing on speed dial

I thought that was the West Wing having the First Lady on speed dial.To be fair, a First Lady having the West Wing on speed dial is also called the "BJ prevention network" nowadays.
