So far, I haven't seen much in the way of actual conservativism. At least not anything Barry Goldwater would recognize.

A traitor to the conservative cause, he should not claim to be a conservative. From reading his posts I would say he is center/left. Am I right danarhea?

Again, what passes for "conservativism" on this board (and, incidentally, in this administration) isn't anything Barry Goldwater or Ike would recognize.

Back in the day, conservatives were against powerful, intrusive government, but almost every conservative I have seen here can't get enough draconian legislation, just as long as someone says "terrorism!"

Back in the day, conservatives are for the constitution, but almost every conservative here who has spoken up on the issue is FOR "free speech zones".

Back in the day, conservatives were for fiscal responsibility...yet the debt is now obscene, and we're fueling greater debt with a pointless war.

Back in the day, conservatives were not into "nation building". I don't think I need to elaborate on this one.

* I have always been outspoken in supporting Bush's picks for judges - Check.

* I have always been outspoken in supporting the 2nd Amendment - Check.

* I was one of the very first to call for the impeachment of Bill Clinton - Check.

* I voted for Pat Buchanan in 2000 - Check.

* I voted Bush for Governor of Texas - Check.

* I supported the Bush tax cuts - Check.

* I voted Bush's father for President - Check.

* I voted for Reagan - Twice - Check.

* I have been outspoken in favor of the border fence, even back in 2000, when it was not popular, and people called me a nut for doing so - Check.

* I am in favor of getting out of the UN and getting the UN out of New York - Check.

* I have been outspoken in arguing for balancing the budget - Check.

* I have always called taxation theft by the Federal government - Check.

* I Bash McCain because his bills were Liberal ones (ie. McCain-Kennedy immigration bill), and because he has pushed Liberal legislation - Check.

* I also bash Obama, and have posted several threads critical of him - Check.

* I was an ardent Ron Paul supporter this year - Check.

* My vote in November will be for Bob Barr / Wayne Allyn Root - Check and checkmate, asshole.

And that is for starters. I believe the Republican party has lost its way, thrown Conservative values under the bus, and the best course now is for it to be destroyed and then rebuilt with Conservative values. I don't apologize for that one bit.

You have to remember that the "conservative" movement has traded in conservativism for a cult of personality, and that they view ideological purity above everything...Above principles, above the country, and above the constitution.

I have very little beef with actual conservativism, except that it's practically extinct.

What you posted makes no sense. If they traded in conservatism, then how can they view what they have as having any kind of ideological purity?

What happened is that Neocon parasites infested the party, and they need to be exterminated (at the polls, that is), so Conservatives can take the party back. Let's call this election "Raid". :)

Unthinking partisanship, of course. According to them, they ARE the "real conservatives". Barry Goldwater would be hurled from today's GOP as a shameless liberal.
