Another good issue for Romney to pursue.......

53% Say Tax Cuts Help the Economy - Rasmussen Reports™

May 24 2012

Most voters continue to believe tax cuts are good for the economy and that more government spending has a negative impact. Fifty-three percent (53%) of Likely U.S. Voters now say tax cuts help the economy, according to the latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey. Twenty-two percent (22%) say tax cuts hurt the economy, while 13% say they have no impact. Twelve percent (12%) are not sure. (To see survey question wording, click here.)

The stimulus was made up of 1/3 tax cuts.

Keynesianism supports tax relief.

Obama fought for the payroll tax cut.

Obama signed off on an extension of the Bush tax cuts.

So why is this a Romney issue to pursue?

Not to mention that the average person has basically no understanding of economics. We see that even the majority of members of the House are clueless.

Who gives a **** what 53% of Americans believe? These are the same lot of people who took out equity lines of credit when their homes appreciated 100% in 10 years only to purchase a bunch of **** they didn't really need and couldn't really afford.

None the less, we cannot push tax revenues any lower (currently 14.5% of GDP) on the basis of cash-flow alone. Not that i expect you to have the slightest idea what i am getting at.....

Thats a number that is larger than the amount of people who pay taxes! So even people who don't pay taxes think that they need a tax cut. Hmmmmm.

I know exactly what you are getting at, and I agree. But you don't have to be so darn hateful to people that you may disagree with on a particular topic or two. Lighten up, this is all for fun (and education).

Voters in November maybe?????:doh

Voters in November will give a **** about what 53% of a particular poll thinks in May of 2012? This is coming from the same guy who thought McCain was a viable candidate against Obama nearly 4 years ago. :lamo

NP created a troll thread

Its true I backed McCain but never really thought he could win......You see McCain told the truth and Hussein Obama lied and made promises he knew he never could keep...Unlike McCain Obama would say or do anything to get re elected.....If you don't believe me ask the Rev. Wright...

Is that your best shot my left wing friend............It must kill a lefty like you to hear the American People favor keeping the tax cuts by a huge majority......

A huge majority? Fifty three percent? Really? Do you know what the word "huge" means?

Regardless, I'm surprise that it wasn't closer to 100%. I thought that everyone wants a tax cut. But it doesn't mean that we should cut taxes right now. Maybe 53% of people also think that puppies are good for our economy, but that doesn't mean that everyone should get a new puppy.

you have to love people who think liberty means taking from us to pay those who won't take care of themselves

Is that your best shot my left wing friend?

Poll threads such as these are about as useful as an elevator in an outhouse. You act as though a specific poll result is supposed to mean something; of course the majority of americans will state that they support a tax cut. What does this prove, that Americans are susceptible to race-to-the-bottom tax policy that only contributes to negative cash flow?

It must kill a lefty like you to hear the American People favor keeping the tax cuts by a huge majority......

Nope! I have an adequate understanding of public finance and macroeconomics. Neither you nor 53% of Americans can honestly make such a claim.

It is a shame that so many from your generation have a real problem with meeting your contractual obligations. The idea that tax cuts and spending cuts when the economy is not at its full potential will solve our fiscal problems is akin to believing in tooth fairies and easter bunnies. Your fragmented utopia is not compatible with our economic and financial reality.

Yea tax cuts are good but not like times right now................. Taxes are historic lows right now and have been for a while shouldnt are economy be livin it up right now??

I read someplace that if you divide federal spending by the number of voters it comes out to something like 14K a person per year. I pay more than 15 times that amount in federal taxes. seems if there is a contract I am on the s end of the stick.

gee that is like saying a guy getting the best chemo for pancreatic cancer should be well by now. In reality, without the therapy he would have died along time ago

Uhhh not really.... Terrible analogy.

Exactly. It's all relative.

If taxes were relatively high, and we were thus on the right hand side of the Laffer Curve, then sure, tax cuts would improve our economy. But like you said, taxes are very low right now, so further tax cuts would be just plain stupid with such a large budget deficit.

I think that a large portion of our population is under the impression that we have high taxes. That shouldn't be surprising, we all love to hate paying taxes, so we just naturally assume that taxes are at a level that is higher than normal.

What you pay is irrelevant (even the fact that you did prosper within this system is irrelevant); the fact that you are contractually obligated is what really matters. None the less, U.S. tax rates have been at the bottom of our historic barrel for some time now. What on earth leads you to believe they can remain at these levels long term?

Another comment lacking any and all economic logic.

Exactly. A survey or poll asking Americans what tax cuts do, is like asking Americans what kind of surgery procedure is best when removing cancer (to which I have no clue, lol).

yes I understand why you would not understand the point. The point is-there are good arguments that but for Bush's actions, things would have been worse.

Its not the 53% that favor it, it the 36% who are against it............

they are most likely the ones who are getting far more from taxes than they pay

or the uber rich who want to stick it to the merely somewhat rich to gain the bootlicking adoration of the dependent class
