53 people shot in Chicago over the weekend. Ridiculously high violence is normal there, but Dems do nothing about it.

Trump proved in DC that crime can be dramatically reduced, and very quickly, if only you allow law enforcement to do so. All it takes is placing officers in high crime areas and arresting/prosecuting criminals. Unfortunately, the Dems and their radical DA's believe that criminals are actually innocent Aladdins just trying to feed their starving families, and therefore shouldn't always be arrested, but should always be released asap with little or no bail.

Also, their defunding of law enforcement, and their anti-police rhetoric and policies have made it so that officers take early retirement or transfer elsewhere, leaving a reduced police force. They could reduce crime, they just don't really want to. Makes you wonder if someone(s) aren't profiting off of it.

None of the NG have been stationed in high crime areas. That was true in L.A. as well. We don't even know if any reduction in crime has anything at all to do with the NG. Their mulching efforts seem nice though.

If and when the people of Chicago decide that they need federal help to solve their crime problem, I'm sure they will let us know. Until that happens, I advise that you mind your own business, because it's not your issue to deal with.

Not much different than any large metro area in the US.
And why the focus on Chicago?
Because they have a Democrat as Governor and if he feels local law enforcement needs help HE can request help from the NG. It is not up to the Trump regime to decide.
Many large metro areas in states with a Republican Governor have a crime problem.
Has NG help from other states been forced on them?

Are these drug gangs shooting each other?.. Idk, I'm not in Chicago.. If it is, then no one cares.. Back in the day when the Italian Mafia was killing each other.. Law enforcement didn't care.. If it spilled over? Then they cared..

If it's gangs shooting each other it's got nothing to do with politics or race..

I'm fine with sending federal agents (FBI etc) to help clean up these gangs, but troops walking around aren't doing shit to stop crime. They have zero training or experience. The quickness rightwingers have went from supporting that Bundy guy to cheering on US troops in US cities shows how law and order is not the reason for troops.

Provide a link that proves that the Dems "defunded" the police in DC.

Congress did not fully fund DC law enforcement request for FY25 due to using the Continuing Resolution to keep the govt. funded.

OK.

Congress did not fully fund DC law enforcement request for FY25 due to using the Continuing Resolution to keep the govt. funded.

That’s what CRs do - keep spending at the prior fiscal year’s level.

I know that. Yet the CR funding was less than what DC requested for law enforcement.

One could ask what would have happened if DC received its full funding for law enforcement, would the NG have been needed?

DC received the “full funding” it had received in the prior fiscal year.

Trump hasn't demonstrated any of that.

He proved nothing of the sort. A source is called for...

It is the federal govt that is defunding local police.

"Reports in 2025 indicate that federal budget cuts enacted under the "One Big Beautiful Bill Act" (OBBBA or BBB) have affected public safety and local law enforcement. The BBB in this context refers to the federal law, not the Better Business Bureau, a private organization. The cuts terminated grant programs and technical assistance previously used by local police departments.
Major impacts from the federal cuts
  • Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN): Funding for training and technical assistance was cut for this DOJ initiative, which brought together local law enforcement and community members to address violent crime. One Oregon district attorney, for example, lost a federal grant that had funded an investigator for complex cases, such as fentanyl overdoses.
  • Targeted violence and terrorism prevention: The State and Local Anti-Terrorism Training (SLATT) program, which trained law enforcement to identify and investigate potential acts of terrorism and hate crimes, was defunded.
  • Rural law enforcement programs: The budget cuts specifically reduced resources for rural policing agencies, which often have vast jurisdictions but lack the resources of suburban or urban departments. Some $5 million in subawards for rural violence reduction were terminated.
  • Community violence intervention: Cuts targeted broader public safety efforts that work alongside law enforcement, including programs focused on substance abuse, mental health crisis response, and community violence intervention.
  • Funding shift: While law enforcement grants were cut, funding was redirected toward other priorities, particularly immigration enforcement. The OBBBA increased funding for Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), making it a highly funded federal law enforcement agency. "

Historically low violence.

Man did Pritzker and the Mayor of Chicago just lay into Trump!!!!

Why the focus on Chicago?
